A Model for Active and Empathetic Listening

In the Ombuds profession, we believe that active listening is a superpower. By listening more than we speak, Ombuds learn more about visitors to understand their issues, concerns and challenges. In our listening, we can ultimately meet visitors' needs when we assist with options they can take to navigate through such issues and concerns. Active listening as a form of effective communication has unmeasurable benefits, from building rapport with others to strengthening relationships.
