From the Desk of Ms. D

Dear Hawks Community,

Thank you for another great two weeks at Hallett! We had a blast celebrating Halloween with you all. Huge shoutout to Ms. T and the whole Discovery Link team for their hard work putting together our Haunted Hallway. And thank you, families, for bringing candy for our trick-or-treating!

Thanksgiving break will be here before we know it. In the meantime, make sure to get your tickets for Family Lunch on Nov.19! We've extended the deadline to purchase tickets - you can buy them at the front desk through tomorrow, Nov. 7.

In other exciting news, we will be hosting our second annual college week at Hallett! Mark your calendars: this year it will be Dec. 8-12. Students will have the chance to hear from college counselors, current college students, and trades representatives. We are also putting together an after-school workshop for families about how to plan for the cost of college. Stay tuned for more information, and start dusting off your old college gear!

Warmly,

Ms. D, Principal

🍨 Every Day in School Matters!

Every minute in school is valuable - make sure your student is on time every day! We will be celebrating strong attendance in a few ways this year:

  • The class with the highest attendance each month will receive an award.

  • Students with attendance of 95% or higher for the month will receive an award.

  • We will be giving out donuts on random days to students who are on time.

  • Students with 95% or higher attendance for the trimester will get to go on a trip.

Coming up on Nov. 21, students with 95% or higher attendance will get to participate in an ice cream party during lunch and recess! We'll have cones, sundaes, floats, music and games.

πŸŽ“ College Week Dec. 8 - 12

During college week, we will spend time talking about HBCUs. To get the kiddos excited, we're going to play them videos of current HBCU students giving tours of their campuses and talking about what they love about college. If you know any current HBCU students who would like to make a 1-3 minute video about college for our Hawks, email Emma at emma_calkins@dpsk12.net. Thank you!

πŸ’Έ It's Never Too Early to Start Thinking About Paying for College!

At Hallett, we believe it's never to early to start thinking about college, so we encourage you to check it out. Register for the webinar here.
