BESS Family Survey: School Goal is 70% participation Rate. Help us get there!

Our fall Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BESS) is now open for parents and guardians to complete! This brief survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes and provides valuable insight into your child's social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.

Your feedback helps us better understand and support your child's social-emotional learning and provides our school team with important information to identify ways to support students' success both in and out of the classroom.

Your child’s social emotional and behavioral screener, the BESS is now open for parents/guardians to complete. Our fall screening window is open from August 3rd through October 30th. Please go to tinyurl.com/bessparent to complete your student’s screening today.

If you would like to learn more about the BESS and universal social emotional and behavioral screening in Denver Public Schools, please review our BESS Overview for Parents/Guardians document.

Thank you so much for your participation!

Message from Nurse Reba:

Important Reminder: Immunization Compliance Deadline — January 5, 2027

Dear Willow Elementary Families,

We want to help every student start the new year healthy and ready to learn! Denver Public Schools follows Colorado state law, which requires all K-12 students to be immunized against certain diseases unless an exemption is filed. To make sure every student is set up for a healthy return, Willow Elementary has set January 5, 2027 — the day we return from Winter Break — as the deadline for all Kindergarten through 5th grade students to be immunization-compliant.

Compliance means one of the following is on file with the school:

Up-to-date immunization records, or

An approved non-medical exemption, or

An approved medical exemption signed by a physician

If your student is not yet compliant, you should have already received a letter home with details specific to your child. Please take a moment to review it and reach out if you have any questions.

Please note: Students who are not compliant (vaccinated or exempt) by January 5th will not be able to attend school until their records are updated.

We know families are busy, and we truly appreciate your partnership in getting this resolved before break. If you need help scheduling vaccinations, tracking down records, or completing an exemption form, please contact the health office — we're happy to work through it with you.

Thank you for helping us keep every student at Willow healthy and in the classroom where they belong!
