Update From the Principal

Thanks for supporting your students the last few days as Bruce has been warmer than normal. Our chiller had a malfunction that required the manufacturer to fly someone out to fix. The chiller is back up and running. Over the past few days, we were in contact with the district regarding the possibility of a heat closure. That was not approved as they worked through different heat remediation efforts. If this were to happen in the future, we will continue to work to make sure we are advocating for closures anytime the heat in the building approaches uncomfortable temperatures. Please continue to encourage your students to wear layered clothing as it is often cool in the morning when they arrive and hot when they leave and building temperatures vary room to room.

Collaborative School Committee Meeting | 10/15

CSC will be discussing our school performance framework as well as our progress related to our school improvement plan.  All members of our school community are invited to join us for that meeting. Dinner will be provided.

SchoolChoice

School of Choice will open on December 1st. Keep an eye out for more information surrounding school of choice.

FAFSA/CAFSA Night

We had over 30 families participate as part of FAFSA/CAFSA night. This is a night to support seniors and their families with completing financial aid applications. Our goal is that 100% of seniors complete financial aid applications in order to leave every pathway open as they determine next steps after graduation.

Every Minute Counts

Please make sure your student arrives on time each day. Students who miss 10 minutes each day miss the equivalent of 1 whole period each week. Students with 90% or better attendance are more likely to pass their classes and more likely to feel like they belong. Students who are late in the morning also receive lunch detention. Reach out if you need support with transportation or planning related to getting your student to school on time each day.

Flag Football

Our Grizzly flag football team celebrated senior night last night. Congratulations to our seniors on a fantastic Grizzly career. The Grizzlies will be back in action on Saturday hosting #3 in Colorado and #17 in the nation, Mountain View.

High School Girls Volleyball

Last evening the volleyball team defeated DMLK and last week the Grizzlies went 2-0 on the week, bringing their record to 11-3 on the season. The Grizzlies are on track to challenge in the playoffs and to have the best record in school history.

Grizzly Soccer

Last week the Grizzlies traveled to Garden City, KS for a campus visit to GCCC in which they ate in the cafeteria, took a campus tour, met with the Bronco Coaching staff and had a chance to see the 5th ranked men's soccer team take on Coffeyville CC. On Saturday, the Grizzlies squared off against 6A opponent Garden City HS and jumped out to a quick lead 2-0. The Grizzlies just could not keep up the pressure as the Buffalos stormed back to win in overtime 3-2. It was a great experience for our Grizzlies and will prepare them to make a strong end of the season push.

Upcoming Neighborhood Safety Improvements: E 40th Ave & Milwaukee St

Heads up! The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is planning key safety upgrades at the intersection of E 40th Ave & Milwaukee St, with construction expected to begin in late 2026 or early 2027.

Why the change? This high-traffic area connects our community to local schools, making improved pedestrian safety a top priority funded through Denver’s Bond program.

What’s coming?

Better Pedestrian Crossings: New pedestrian-activated flashing lights, enhanced signage, and upgraded striping.

Accessibility & Walkability: New sidewalks, curb ramps, and concrete curb extensions on the northeast and northwest corners of 40th Ave to slow down traffic and shorten crossing distances.

DOTI will share a final update right before construction starts. Stay tuned for further timing details!
