A Note From Our PTA President

Hi WCE families,

I want to give a shout-out to two parents who reached out last month with ideas and reminders that we were able to implement right away, and boy did they make such a difference!

Shannon Rossiter suggested we add a "giving back" element to the Turkey Trot, which we loved and “RAN” with immediately. And Meghan Schreiber for reminding us to highlight corporate matching opportunities for 2025 donations so families could maximize their impact and have their dollars go twice as far!

Both of these came from parents just taking a minute to share what they were thinking. That's it. And it mattered so much.

Thank you, Shannon and Meghan and others who have come to us with ideas, big or small!  This is exactly the kind of community engagement that makes our school stronger. If you see something, have an idea, or notice something we might've missed, please reach out. We're listening, and we can often act on it right away.

As we wrap up what's been an incredible fall of fundraising season, I'd love to invite more of you to the table. Our January PTA + CSC meeting is going to be all about planning how we use these funds to support our kids and school. Bring your ideas - big, small, half-baked, or completely thought through. Let's talk about what's possible and actually make it happen.

Together we can do more! Together we are WCE!

girls on the run

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run at WCE wrapped up another fun-filled season this fall with a team of 29 enthusiastic 3rd - 5th grade girls. Through dedicated training that emphasized endurance, confidence, and positive self-talk, the team proudly completed a 5K on November 9.

Beyond running, the girls explored meaningful topics such as friendship, coping with challenges, empathy, and celebrating personal strengths. To close out the season, they completed a community service project: during practice, the team decorated more than 200 coffee sleeves with humor and uplifting messages to be shared with parents and caregivers at Children’s Hospital.

Congratulations to all the girls on an inspiring season!

Book Fair

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way from Monday, December 8th to Friday, December 12th (online purchases can be made anytime between December 4-December 12)!

Our book fair will be running during the following times:

- Kick off on Friday, December 5th (during the Winter School Dance)

- Monday, December 8th - Friday, December 12th  7:45 - 8:15am & 3:15 - 5:00pm daily in the library

Scholastic E-wallet:

E-wallet allows you to safely add money into your student's account for use at the book fair.

A couple of things to note about e-wallets:

- New e-wallets need to be set up for each and every book fair.

- Any previous e-wallets that have a balance are automatically put on an e-gift card that can be seen on the left hand side of your login page under ‘My account and funds’ or ‘e-gift cards’.

- There is also an opportunity for others to add money to the E-wallet (perfect for early holiday gifts from grandparents, etc).

Online Book Fair:

If you can’t make it to the Fair, no worries! You can shop at our school’s Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
