Dear Team DPS,

Today we celebrate School Bus Driver Appreciation Day! Often the first interaction of the day for our students, school bus drivers are responsible for safely transporting students from their homes to their places of learning in a safe and welcoming environment.

With DPS spanning more than 50 square miles, our bus drivers are busy keeping the buses rolling! Last year, our bus drivers drove 1,960,175 miles. Last month alone drivers covered 165,201 miles. Our 204 bus drivers not only  transport students to schools, but  a variety of locations including field trips, college campus visits, athletic competitions, extracurricular activities and more. Thanks to our bus drivers, many students have the opportunity to discover new passions, learn about new subjects and expand their educational horizons.

I also want to recognize the bus driver paraprofessionals for assisting school bus drivers in supporting our students. These paraprofessionals help ensure students are safe and cared for while traveling to and from their destination.

Please join me in thanking all of our school bus drivers! Thank you for taking care of our students in the capacity that you do. Your contribution makes our vision of Every Learner Thrives possible.
