Happy Monday!
Everyone's getting in the rhythm of the school year, and things are going well! There are so many fun activities coming up for Homecoming Week next week, so stay tuned to the Spartan Edition for news about Spirit Days, the Bonfire, the Dance, and more! Remember, the more involved you can be in our Spartan community, the more memorable your high school experience will be.
Our school attendance is looking better, but we can still make improvements. Please be sure to build in extra time in the mornings so that we can get everyone here on time.
Have a great week, Spartans!

Thank you to all of the parents who came to Back to School Night last week! We're excited to have you as a part of the TJ Family!
We are proud and honored to pass on some wonderful news.
This past week we received a VERY generous donation to our football
program. Daniel and Josh Graham (TJ - Class of ’97) were so kind to
reach out to the Denver Broncos, inquiring as to any surplus footwear and
player accessories. The Broncos graciously agreed to release 80 pair of football
cleats, 100 NFL protective chinstraps, 200 pair of receiver gloves, and NFL
hand towels. These are accent items that our normal budget cannot cover so
the kids often settle for lesser quality versions of such items.
On behalf of our coaches and players -- THANK YOU -- Josh and Daniel as
well as the Denver Broncos. This gear will be used and worn with our sincerest
appreciation. Head Coach – Mike Griebel
TJ fans! We are here with your favorite merch and have some new designs that you will love. If you are in need of gear, stop by the DECA store in the cafeteria after school Monday thru Thursday. We sell t-shirts, hoodies, pants, hats, stadium seats, socks, stickers, etc. You will also find us at the Homecoming football game. Feel free to email us with any questions.

Participants of this webinar will gain understanding about why youth might experiment with substances, such as nicotine and cannabis, learn how adults can prevent adolescent substance use, and how to intervene when a loved one is using.
Dr. Bonnie Halpern-Felsher, a developmental psychologist, will share her knowledge about youth substance use. Dr. Halpern-Felsher is the founder and director of the Tobacco Prevention Toolkit, an online curriculum aimed at reducing and preventing youth tobacco use. Her research has focused on understanding and reducing health risk behaviors such as tobacco use, alcohol and marijuana use, risky driving, and risky sexual behavior.
Spanish interpretation will be available. Register here.
OCTOBER MEETING - SAVE THE DATE:
Next month's PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 6pm in Room 111. Our guest speaker will be Becca Norris, volunteer with the DPS Bond Oversight Committee to discuss the upcoming bond measure on the November ballot.
Thank you to everyone who attended September’s meeting!
Looking for a simple way to support the PTO? We use the King Soopers’ Community Rewards program as one of our annual fund raisers. King Soopers contributes a percentage of your grocery sales to the non-profit of your choice with quarterly payments to us. All you do is enter your Rewards number each time you shop. Last year 132 TJ families participated, earning the PTO over $6,800.
We use these funds to support our Teacher Appreciation program and provide funding to our Class Committees. Have you signedup yet? Or perhaps need to change the beneficiary from your previous school to TJ? Click here for more instructions. The PTO’s organization name is Thomas Jefferson High School Partners, or use code UT036. Thank you to all who currently participate!
Please consider how you can use your skills to help TJ be the best it can be.
