Happy Halloween Week, Spartans!
This week is Challenge Day for Juniors - please be sure to see below for details.
Believe it or not, we only have 6 weeks of regular classes left before finals week! We do not have school during the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 25-29). After that we only have two weeks before finals! Click here for the Finals Week schedule, and stay tuned for exact testing times.
As the weather gets colder, please be sure to build more time into your morning commute to ensure that you arrive at school on time.
On Wednesday we will host our annual Trunk or Treat Street from 4-6 p.m. On Thursday feel free to dress up, but remember to keep it school appropriate (no full face coverings and no weapons).
Let's have a fun and safe Halloween!

Congrats to the TJ Flag Football team who got to play an exhibition game at a recent Bronco game halftime! We're so proud of all of the players and their coaches Suzanne Meyer and Abby Griffin! Click here to watch a clip from the game!
Congrats to Ajah Kamalagasan for being a #myplandpsstudentachievementaward recipient! Ajah is grateful for the support she's received from the DPS Career and College Success program, which has been crucial in shaping her aspirations and helping her thrive. Her ultimate goal is to make a meaningful impact in the aviation sector while continuing to grow as a leader and role model.
Freshman Kayla Braman has qualified for the state cross-country meet on Nov. 2! For those of you who don’t know, the regional meet is the only opportunity for x-country runners to qualify for state, and although neither of our teams qualified, Kayla placed 9th and will be going to state as an individual runner representing TJ. Kayla currently holds the TJ girls school record for the 5k. Way to go, Kayla!
Please join us in congratulating Officer Cueva on his retirement! This week will be his last week as a Denver Police Officer before he heads into the next chapter of his life. We are so grateful for his 34 years of service for DPD and his 15 years here at TJ.

TJ PTO Launches Fundraising Campaign
Introducing the Spartan Grant Drive! TJ PTO has launched this online fundraising campaign that will support the very important TJ Spartan Grant program. Every year our TJ Staff has the opportunity to request funds from the PTO in a variety of areas including classroom needs, club/student activities support and social support services. The purpose of our fundraising campaign is to fund the Spartan Grant Program so that our school can receive financial support where it is needed most. Any donation amount is welcome and appreciated. Our goal is to raise $20,000. To read more and donate, visit TJ Spartan Grant Drive. Please consider sharing with family and friends.
UCEUS, an exchange program, is looking for a host family! We are looking to place a friendly and responsible 16-year-old girl from Spain with a family near T.J. Her welcome family lives too far from T.J. and she would need an easier commute, especially as it gets colder. The requirements are that she must have a bed and a study area. She can share a room with another girl between 13-18 years old. Any style families are welcome- whether you have children or not! She would stay with you through the end of the school year. Please email Lauren at lauren.tauchman@gmail.com or text her at 630.272.5658 for more information!
The October Food Distribution will take place this Thursday, October 24 from 3:30-5:00 pm at TJ!

If you are interested in making a monetary donation to the TJ Food Bank you can do so HERE. We appreciate your support!
On Nov. 5, 2024, Denver voters will be asked to approve the passage of a $975 million dollar bond investment for Denver Public Schools. If approved, the bond proposal will require an increase in the district’s bond debt but WILL NOT increase property taxes. This bond will provide capitalimprovement projects, including air conditioning, critical maintenance, safety and technology upgrades, and quality learning environment funding for students across the city.

Did You Know…?
Magnesium can boost your brain health!
Quick Facts:
Recommended amount for women is 310-320 mg/daily
Recommended amount for men is 400-420 mg/daily
Research has found that people who got 550 mg daily had LESS age-related brain volume shrinkage by age 55, which is associated with better cognitive function and a lower risk of dementia.
That is great, now how can I get my brain boost?

Hello Class of 2028 parents and families! The class of 2028 needs 1-2 parents to be co-chairs and lead the planning of fundraising and social events. Each class is expected to raise the money needed to host their After Prom and other activities senior year. The sooner the fundraising gets started, the more choices there will be for events senior year. Parent sponsors also plan community building activities for the parents of the class of 2028. We are successful because of your behind-the-scenes contributions, large and small. It all adds up to a stronger community. An engaged parent body shows our students that we care about them!
