Happy Monday, TJ!
This week is a normal week, regular class schedules all week.
The following week our Juniors will have Challenge Day on the 29th and 30th as well as Accuplacer testing.
Both of these are great opportunities for our students. Challenge Day is a great experience that builds a strong sense of community.
The Accuplacer is one way in which our students can show college readiness according to the recent requirements from CDE. It is also a great measure we can use to help students with class choice and college and career preparation.
Winter Sports Registration is OPEN! Register, pay, and upload your child's sports physical here:
https://students.arbitersports.com/thomas-jefferson-high-school-2
The deadline to register is November 18 (1st day of winter sports tryouts). You MUST register in order to try out... and you MUST tryout to be considered for the team.
Students who played a fall sport and have a current physical do not need to upload a new one at this time. Sports physicals are good for 365 days, so if you're updating a sports physical that expires mid season, feel free to email it to carla_allen@dpsk12.net or upload it when you register for winter sports.
Have a great week, TJ!

UCEUS, an exchange program, is looking for a host family! We are looking to place a friendly and responsible 16-year-old girl from Spain with a family near T.J. Her welcome family lives too far from T.J. and she would need an easier commute, especially as it gets colder. The requirements are that she must have a bed and a study area. She can share a room with another girl between 13-18 years old. Any style families are welcome- whether you have children or not! She would stay with you through the end of the school year. Please email Lauren at lauren.tauchman@gmail.com or text her at 630.272.5658 for more information!

On Nov. 5, 2024, Denver voters will be asked to approve the passage of a $975 million dollar bond investment for Denver Public Schools. If approved, the bond proposal will require an increase in the district’s bond debt but WILL NOT increase property taxes. This bond will provide capitalimprovement projects, including air conditioning, critical maintenance, safety and technology upgrades, and quality learning environment funding for students across the city.

What is Challenge Day?
Imagine a school where everyone feels safe, loved and celebrated. Imagine enemies finding common ground and making peace; friends healing past hurts and making amends; people igniting their passion for service and leadership; adults and youth working together to create a school where everyone is included and thrives. The program addresses issues such as self-esteem, bullying, oppression, violence, etc. It is a cultural building opportunity that creates change makers. This is Challenge Day.
If you are curious of what challenge day looks like you can YouTube it. It premiered on MTV, Chicken Soup for The Souls and OPRAH. Here is a great glimpse at what challenge day does for the community: Oprah's Youtube
Did You Know…?
Research shows that in 81% of violent incidents in U.S. schools, someone other than the attacker knew it was going to happen but failed to report it.
Typically, the information goes unreported because of fear of being a 'snitch' or that the attacker will then target the informant, thereby creating a 'code of silence'.
To penetrate this code of silence, Safe2Tell Colorado initially was founded as a 501c3 non-profit organization, incorporated to develop a statewide anonymous reporting tool available 24-hours a day to accept reports whenever a Colorado youth or concerned adult perceived a threat to their safety or the safety of others.
We wanted to take this opportunity to remind our community about this wonderful resource. We all have a responsibility in keeping our community safe. We are encouraging all staff, parents, students and community members to put this resource in their phone. Here are three ways you can access this program:
Download the Safe2Tell Colorado Mobile App and submit a tip through that platform.
Call: (877)542-7233
Submit through their website: https://www.p3campus.com/tipform.aspx?ID=789#
