Happy Monday, TJ!

We are off to a great start to the new year. Here are a couple of reminders to help find success in the new semester:

• Be on time
• Attend all your classes
• Plan ahead and get organized
• Utilize tutoring
• Track your grades
• Ask questions AND ask for help

Parents, you can help your student by:

• Getting your students to school on time
• Stress the important of being on time to every class
• Asking them about their schoolwork
• Checking your Parent Portal
• Discussing AI use and plagiarism with them
• Being one of their biggest cheerleaders

Remember Spartans, this new semester is an opportunity for a fresh and strong start. Take advantage of it. It is always easier to start strong and maintain than having to play catchup later. Any and every improvement is good, as your favorite Principal says, "Better is Good!"

Another reminder, January 16th is ACCESS testing. Only test-taking students attend that day. It will be a normal start time. Students not testing do not have school.

Have a great week, TJ!

Assistant Principal

Did You Know…

The “winter blues” are a real thing for many people!

Some people tend to feel depressed in the wintertime. Less daylight, dreary weather, and the high expectations for the holidays can all combine to trigger a range of emotions. While most enjoy the winter season, others experience the “winter blues.”

Signs include:
- depressed mood
- fatigue and excess sleeping
- binging on comfort foods
- weight gain

So, what can I do?

Remember PAS- Positive Asset Search. This is a positive technique used by mental health professionals which helps clients think up their positive strengths and attributes to get them into a strong mindset about themselves.

For example, make a  mental asset list, or better yet, write it down somewhere!

What am I thankful for?
What's my unique gift that no one can take away?
Who loves me, and who do I love?

COLOR FOR THE GARDEN
If the warm weather has you thinking about this spring’s
garden, this is the spot for you. The Class of 2028 Flower
Power website is currently switching over to the spring
catalog—spring bulbs, seed mats, strawberry plants,
garden supplies and more. We’ll let you know when the site
is back up and running.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
A shout out to everyone who has supported the Class of
2028 on our dine-out nights! The new year is starting with some of your favorite
restaurants.

Tuesday, January 27, 4pm-8pm: Panera at University Hills Plaza
Wednesday, February 25, All Day: Birdcall at Happy Canyon Shopping Center
We’ll share more information about both events when we’re closer.

SOPHOMORES S’MORES
Ooey, gooey and just for the Class of 2028. This is the premier sophomore end of the
year event, and it won’t be possible without your help! We need parent volunteers for a
committee to help organize this fun afterschool event. If you think you might be
interested, email jillkrug@gmail.com or kevkrug@gmail.com. Volunteer early and you
get a voice about both when the committee meets and when the event will be held.

IT’S TIME TO GIVE $28 TO THE CLASS OF ‘28
It’s time to give $28 to the Class of ‘28 to help cultivate community for our students! If
each family gives $28, we get close to our fundraising goals. You can give the $28 for
the class of 2028 through the PTO’s Online Square Account:
https://tjhsstore.square.site/product/2028-class-donations/151

Remember, all money raised by these events and donations will help fund an amazing
after-prom event during the students’ senior year and a fun event at the end of each
school year.
