A TJHS exchange student from Brazil needs a new home for the Spring semester as her current family is moving. We have greatly enjoyed hosting her and want to help her find a new family! If you have a room and the ability to welcome her into your family, or just want to ask some questions, please email suzymlewis@yahoo.com. |
In September, Thomas Jefferson entered into an exchange agreement with Luther Gakuin High School in Kumamoto, Japan. The agreement allows up to 3 students from TJ to attend school in Japan for up to 3 months while 3 students from Luther will be travelling to TJ for 3 months beginning in January. We are currently in need of 3 exchange host families for those 3 students. This is a paid exchange as the students will pay a monthly stipend to the host families while they stay for 3 months. There will be 2 girls and 1 boy in need of housing. Here is a link to the Host Family Application. The students will be arriving January 4th and they will be returning to Japan on March 22nd.
We also have an exchange agreement with Chiben Gojo in Nara Japan. Chiben has been sending students from Japan to TJ for 3 weeks in March since 2019. This March, Chiben will be sending 16 students (8 boy and 8 girls) for a 3 week study. They will live with a family for 3 weeks. They will shadow current TJ students and attend classes and school activities with them. In return, we will have 6 students who will travel to Nara, Japan this summer. Those students will attend school in Chiben for 3 weeks in July. In total, that makes 19 total exchange students in need of a home for an amount of time next semester. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to Mr. Jackson by email at kjackso@dpsk12.net.

Thank you to the TJ Community for your continued support of the Food Bank! We’ve seen an increase in need within our TJ community and beyond, and we expect that to grow as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are suspended due to the government shutdown. SNAP provides vital food assistance to low-income families, and this pause has created an even greater need for support. If you’d like to make a financial contribution to the TJ Food Bank, you can do so HERE.
The December Food Bank and Holiday distribution will take place WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17 from 1:00-3:00 at TJ!
Please reach out to Megan Perkins (megandperkins@gmail.com) Becca Mahoney (beccaandjoemahoney@gmail.com) or Jillian Krause (jillian.krause@gmail.com) with questions.

Dear Family,
I hope you are doing well.
We are asking you to fill out this survey (Family Survey) to help Denver Public Schools understand how to support students, families, and educators through district and school attendance practices and systems. Your input is invaluable. We want to know what you think!
Please fill this survey out by December 19 to help design future strategies and recommendations to improve attendance and reduce absenteeism. If you have any questions, reach out to Erin Anderson (erin.anderson249@du.edu) who is supporting the district with gathering stakeholder input.
Thank you! TJHS Attendance Team

Did You Know…
We have one week until finals!?
If you haven’t already started to do this…
-Ask your teacher what will be on the final -Find a “study buddy” -Ask for a study guide -Ask if the test will be open or closed notes! -Review notes and content you may not understand, then make an appointment to go in for lunch help!
Remember to:
-Get good sleep the days leading up to the exams -Eat healthy food (lower in sugar, higher in whole grains and protein) -Practice good self care: go for walks, talk with family and friends, draw, color, dance, sing, play an instrument, listen to music, do a puzzle!
Breathe! You can do this!
