This year’s theme, “African Americans and Labor,” highlights the profound ways that work and working—whether free or unfree, skilled or unskilled, vocational or voluntary—are deeply interwoven into the collective experiences of Black people. Work has been central to Black history and culture, shaping narratives of perseverance, innovation and progress.

Black History Month provides a valuable opportunity to celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history while fostering an inclusive, unified and equitable learning environment. #MyPlanDPS Student Achievement Award

Do you know a high school student who is in DPS programs, has overcome challenges and has big dreams? Encourage them to apply for the #MyPlanDPS Student Achievement Award by May 5! 

The #MyPlanDPS Student Achievement Award supports the DPS vision of Every Learner Thrives as students prepare for career, college and life by recognizing students who, through DPS programs, are thriving and excelling in high school.  These students have developed academic and social skills that will launch them into their career and college success. This award celebrates the diverse paths available to DPS students, acknowledges the challenges they overcome and emphasizes that success is attainable to all students.

Upcoming Training for Trauma-informed and Restorative Practices

  • Learning Lab: Overcoming Common Challenges to Implementation: This virtual session will take place Thursday, Feb. 6 from 9-10 a.m. and is intended for Restorative Practice Coordinators.

  • Professional Learning Session: Restorative Practices Overcoming Common Challenges to Implementation: This event will take place Feb. 14 at Bruce Randolph School. The time is TBA. The session is intended forall members of Team DPS.

America's Healthiest Schools Award Program Informational Webinar

Join America’s Healthiest Schools award program to celebrate your school’s commitment to whole-child health and well-being. This annual program, hosted by Healthier Generation, recognizes schools excelling in up to nine health-related areas. Public and private schools across the U.S. can apply by April 15. Even past award recipients are encouraged to reapply to showcase their ongoing dedication to creating a healthy and supportive school environment. Watch an informational webinar to learn about the award criteria and application process.
