Dear Educators,
Welcome back to another exciting year! We're ready to dive in with pencils sharpened, coffee cups full and hearts set on making a difference. When we commit to grade-level tasks rooted in assessment and fueled by our ongoing professional growth, we create a learning environment where all may thrive.
Thank you for taking the time to begin your professional learning day by centering equity! Unfortunately, our Learning Management System, Infor Learning Space, experienced system-wide outages that persisted throughout the day. Due to the technical issue, we know many of you missed the window of time to complete the learning for today.
We have made the following adjustments to ensure you receive credit and can register for your learning path:
We will manually provide credit for the Aug.13 Equity Professional Learning course. We encourage you to still take the Aug 13 PL 24: Equity Professional Learning 2024-25 Introduction course as it is a great way to continue reflecting on how you center culture and equity.
All participants should register for their desired learning path listed below. Details about each path are available this document.
Reclaiming the Narrative Film Study (*This course is limited to 300 seats (100 per site) and is in person. Register for the site you want to attend.)

Respectfully,
Dr. Tony Smith
Deputy Superintendent

This Week's Top 5 Things to Know:
Redesignate Students Who Met the Access 2024 Trigger
This fall, take the opportunity to redesignate students who met the ACCESS 2024 trigger. Research shows that earlier redesignation leads to greater academic success. Failing to redesignate students who demonstrate readiness can result in them becoming Long-Term MLLs due to decreased motivation for annual assessments. This year, the fall redesignation window is Aug. 19-Sept. 27.

Review IEP and 504 Translation Request Process
IEP or 504 meeting translation requests must be submitted no later than 20 days following the meeting. Information about matters that fall under the IDEA or Section 504 (e.g., IEP and 504 meetings) (except that translation of IEPs and 504 Plans is governed by Chapter 7) is essential district-level information.
To remain compliant with the Consent Decree, upon request by a LEP Parent, the District shall translate requested portions of an English Language Learner’s IEP or 504 Plan (including the entire IEP or 504 Plan, if requested) into the parent’s native language (even if outside the eight most common languages). The DPS Translations team will deliver translations within 20 days after the request was submitted. For more information, visit the Translation page.
