Dear Swigert Families,
As the PYP (Primary Years Programme) coordinator, I wanted to say a huge thank you for your generous support for our IB program. It really makes a difference in our school community. Just this past week we had Inside the Orchestra come in to play for our ECE students as part of their How We Express Yourself Unit, our third graders went to Balarat Outdoor Program for their systems unit and our fourth and kinder classes harvested tomatoes, peppers and tomatillos in our school garden. Your generous support makes those experiences come alive, thank you! We are currently raising funds to support these programs. Please support them here: https://www.swigertpta.com/swigert-gives.
I’d also love to share about another important aspect of our IB program that supports the social emotional development for our students, the IB Learner Profile. The Learner Profile describes a set of 10 attributes that we aim to develop in students (and families). These attributes not only equip students to be successful academically, but also as global citizens who make an impact on the world around them.
The ten attributes are:
At Swigert, we celebrate the LP attributes school-wide in two major ways - first, students can earn a Swigert Learner Profile Slip. These can be awarded any day of the week from any adult (or sometimes a peer) in the building. Slips are awarded when a student is spotted displaying an attribute independently anytime during the school day (cafeteria, playground, specials, classroom, hallway, etc.). Each classroom decides how to honor these before sending them home with the student. If a Slip comes home with your child, have them share with you how they earned it and celebrate it together!
The second way we celebrate the Learner Profile is with monthly grade level celebrations. On the last Friday of each month, each grade level comes together in the library for our Learner Profile Award Ceremonies. Classroom teachers highlight 2-4 students who have demonstrated one of the attributes especially well that month. Students are recognized in front of their peers, and their picture goes up on the wall outside of the cafeteria. We just completed our first round of Learner Profile Celebrations last week - ask your student to tell you about the traits that we celebrated.
By fostering these 10 attributes, the IB Learner Profile aims to develop internationally minded individuals who contribute positively to the world. This profile underpins everything we do in the PYP and is embedded in all aspects of learning and school life.
Join me at our next community coffee on Friday, October 17th to learn more about what IB looks like at Swigert. Our IB program is truly possible through the direct giving of our families. Please support these great initiatives by donating today.
Sincerely,
Caroline Dane (IB Coordinator)

This week is Swigert’s Gives: Our Direct Giving Fall Fundraiser, Spirit Week, and Color Run! The school does not do other sales-based fundraisers. This is a direct one-time ask for financial support in the Fall. The money donated and pledged goes to school initiatives like the IB Program, teacher training, community events, and more.
We aim to raise $100,000 over the course of the week. Each day the kids help fundraise for their bright future by wearing a color. This corresponds to the color they are hoping to earn for their Color Run on Friday, October 3rd.

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) conducts a count every October for all public school districts in the state. The count is a snapshot of enrollment used to calculate the per-pupil funding that we receive as a school from the state. The October Count Window runs Sept. 24–Oct. 3, with Oct. 1 as the official Count Day. If a student is absent on Oct. 1, their attendance on other days in the window is still considered. Strong attendance supports your student’s growth and ensures our school has the resources to serve all students well.
Join our admin team and IB Coordinator, Mrs. Dane to learn all about IB at our next Community Coffee.

✈️It's time for the next Read Around the World Book Club. It is open to all Swigert students, with book choices best suited for grades 3–5. Parents can decide if selections are right for their child.
🌍 Each month, we’ll read an own-voice book set on a different continent—celebrating the joy of reading while exploring new perspectives. Students can read independently, listen to an audiobook, or enjoy being read to. Participation should fit each family’s style.
📚 No fee to join, but families provide their own copies of the books if possible. Swigert will provide copies if needed--we want anyone interested to participate!
🛂 Members will receive a Book Club passport, stamped each time they attend. Students may come every month or just when it works for them.
📅 Meetings: 3:15–4:15 in Room 212 (Mosley’s Classroom). Pickup outside the main office.

4th grader Conrad "Rad" Robinson is raising money for Make-a-Wish Colorado to help other kids have their wishes granted, just like his sister, Pippa. Pippa had her wish granted to go to Disney World, where she discovered her love of roller coasters, dressed up as Mulan in the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, and met her favorite princesses. We are deeply grateful for our time together as a family and for the joy the trip brought during her cancer treatment. We hope to share that joy with other families by helping to grant more wishes, and we need your help!! Here's a video about the event that Rad hopes you'll watch. To sign up to climb with him or to make a pledge, please use this form. The Climb for Wishes this year is October 18th at Ubergrippen in Denver. Please share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community. You can learn more about Conrad and the Climb for Wishes on the Denver9 news edition of Kids with Capes.
Thank you!
Ashley & Patrick Robinson

Swigert PTA is looking for our '25-'26 Sponsors! Our yearly sponsors play a big part in helping the PTA support the students and staff at the school - helping to fund school-wide events, extra staff, professional development opportunities, etc..
As a thank you we aim to promote all our sponsors in a variety of ways through posted banners, flyers in the Friday Folders, spotlights in the Eagle Post and more. I'd argue there is likely not a better community in the neighborhood to garner company support!
Details about our two levels of Swigert Sponsorship can be found in the flyer here and that came home in Friday folders. If you are ready to become a sponsor you can do so here: https://www.swigertpta.com/sponsorship
