Dear Swigert Families,

I love this time of year when our first IB Units come alive and students make deep connections about their learning. One of the best parts of my day is hearing students connect their learning and share about what they are excited about. Our third graders took a meaningful fieldwork trip to Union Station last week to study different systems including transportation, water, and just counting the number of people in and out of the station (tying in math). The kids were so excited when they came back to share their experiences.

As an International Baccalaureate School we are fortunate to create these engaging learning experiences. We are able to provide this authentic learning due to your support. If you want to learn more about our IB program come to our community coffee on October 17th with our IB Coordinator or Caroline Dane and check this page on our website.

Your dollars truly allow Swigert to be an IB school. Your dollars support IB professional learning, our IB coordinator, and our Spanish program. These dollars truly allow us to be an International Baccalaureate school. They directly support the IB program including funding teacher professional learning, our Spanish program, IB coordinator and additional para professional support. We are kicking off our direct giving campaign next week. We are tying it to our spirit week and color run, it’s a great way to engage all students in a spirit filled week and fun color run to top it off! Check out all the details from PTA below!

Sincerely,

Shelby Dennis

Swigert Gives

Next week is Swigert’s Gives: Our Direct Giving Fall Fundraiser and Color Run from September 29-October 3. The school does not do other sales-based fundraisers. This is a direct one-time ask for financial support in the Fall. The money donated and pledged goes to school initiatives like the IB Program, teacher training, community events, and more.

We aim to raise $100,000 over the course of the week. Each day the kids help fundraise for their bright future by wearing a color. This corresponds to the color they are hoping to earn for their Color Run on Friday, October 3rd.

More information, FAQ, and details at: https://www.swigertpta.com/swigert-gives

Want to give early? No problem! Your donations will still count towards the kids earning their colors

Checking in at office reminder

In an effort to keep our school as safe as possible, all adults entering the building need to stop and check in with the front office staff.  You will need to have your driver's license or government issued ID in order to enter the building.  Please bring this with you whenever you need to walk a child to class, pick up a child early, etc.  After showing identification, you will be given either a visitor sticker or badge to wear in the building for the duration of your visit.

Please understand that while this may feel like an inconvenience for you, it is essential to creating the safest environment possible for our kids.  We ask you to please be patient with our office staff, and try not to get angry or frustrated when they ask for your identification.

This does include walking students into the building in the morning before school, so please give hugs and say goodbyes outside.  If you need to accompany your child into the building, please use the front entrance and check in with office staff.  (Note: ECE parents should still accompany their students to the classroom for sign-in, using the door on the east side of the building for entry. No need for you to check in at the office for this.)

Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this important matter.  If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the Swigert administration team.

October Count

1

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) conducts a count every October for all public school districts in the state. The count is a snapshot of enrollment used to calculate the per-pupil funding that we receive as a school from the state. The October Count Window runs Sept. 24–Oct. 3, with Oct. 1 as the official Count Day. If a student is absent on Oct. 1, their attendance on other days in the window is still considered. Strong attendance supports your student’s growth and ensures our school has the resources to serve all students well.

Conrad's Climb-a-Thon

1

4th grader Conrad "Rad" Robinson is raising money for Make-a-Wish Colorado to help other kids have their wishes granted, just like his sister, Pippa. Pippa had her wish granted to go to Disney World, where she discovered her love of roller coasters, dressed up as Mulan in the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, and met her favorite princesses. We are deeply grateful for our time together as a family and for the joy the trip brought during her cancer treatment. We hope to share that joy with other families by helping to grant more wishes, and we need your help!! Here's a video about the event that Rad hopes you'll watch. To sign up to climb with him or to make a pledge, please use this form. The Climb for Wishes this year is October 18th at Ubergrippen in Denver. Please share this fundraiser with your friends, family, and community. You can learn more about Conrad and the Climb for Wishes on the Denver9 news edition of Kids with Capes.

Thank you!

Sponsorship

1

Swigert PTA is looking for our '25-'26 Sponsors! Our yearly sponsors play a big part in helping the PTA support the students and staff at the school - helping to fund school-wide events, extra staff, professional development opportunities, etc..

As a thank you we aim to promote all our sponsors in a variety of ways through posted banners, flyers in the Friday Folders, spotlights in the Eagle Post and more. I'd argue there is likely not a better community in the neighborhood to garner company support!

Details about our two levels of Swigert Sponsorship can be found in the flyer here and that came home in Friday folders. If you are ready to become a sponsor you can do so here: https://www.swigertpta.com/sponsorship

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions- sponsorship@swigertpta.com
