Dear Swigert Families,

Thank you everyone who helped make International Night such a wonderful event. I love this community event, it is wonderful to celebrate different cultural experiences and build school community. Thank you Tabitha Jones and her team for coordinating this event. Thank you for the volunteers who helped with our garden harvest, we had loads of lettuce and delicious radishes to share. Below are a few photos from the evening. You can see all the pictures in this google drive.

I know everyone is looking forward to Field Day on Friday, and the weather is currently cooperating. Please have your students apply sunscreen, wear comfy shoes, and bring a water bottle. See details Field Day Information (or scroll down in Swigert Happening).

We are in an interesting place in the school year where we are wrapping up this year but also planning for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are planning to move or leave Swigert next year please let us know. It has an impact on our school numbers and planning for classroom placement. Please email Hannah_Bickford@dpsk12.net. I will also share updates for staffing in next week’s Eagle Post. I know there is a great deal going on in May, please reach out with any questions or clarifications.

Sincerely,

Shelby Dennis

Registration OPEN for 2025-2026

Yes, you have a spot for next year but the next step is registering with DPS. This is the annual process of providing and updating student and family information on file, including emergency contacts, health information and more.

For the 2025-26 school year, families can complete online registration either in the spring during the Early Bird window (May 5-23) or after July 28.

To register online, sign in to the Parent Portal, click on “See All Apps”, then click on “Online Registration” to verify or update your student’s information. Online registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record.

See all the details and walk throughs here: https://swigert.dpsk12.org/registration-2025-26/

Medication Pick-Up

1

Dear Swigert Families,

Thank you for supporting the Denver Public Schools medication policy. Please make sure to pick up all medications and medical equipment used by your child on or before the last day of school. Colorado Guidelines state that medications are not permitted to be sent home with your child.

If your child is participating in a summer program, their medication will not automatically be transferred to the site of the program. It is up to the parent/guardian to pick up the medication from the school and transport it to the summer program site.

REMAINING MEDICATIONS WILL BE DESTROYED AT 1PM ON JUNE 3RD 2025.

It has been a pleasure to work with you and your child this school year and I look forward to next year. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at hoang_tran@dpsk12.net.

Sincerely,

Hoang Tran
