Dear Swigert Families,
Happy Earth Day! I wanted to highlight an arts integration project our first graders just completed that included different ways they could help the Earth. As part of their IB Unit, Who We Are, they were focusing this past week on Changemakers. They completed an arts integration project "24 Ways We Can Change the World" where each student chose an action they wanted to do to make a difference in the world. Many students said they would pick up trash or do more recycling. They created a watercolor/collage poster representing themselves as changemakers.
Here are a few examples:
If you want to learn more about our arts integration program, check out this tab on our Swigert school website.
Just a reminder that we have Pippa Day this Friday, April 25th. Students are encouraged to wear superhero or princess costumes. You are welcome to join us for our paper butterfly release on the field at 2:50pm.
Sincerely,
Shelby Dennis

Yes, you have a spot for next year but the next step is registering with DPS. This is the annual process of providing and updating student and family information on file, including emergency contacts, health information and more.
For the 2025-26 school year, families can complete online registration either in the spring during the Early Bird window (May 5-23) or after July 28.
To register online, sign in to the Parent Portal, click on “See All Apps”, then click on “Online Registration” to verify or update your student’s information. Online registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record.
See all the details and walk throughs here: https://swigert.dpsk12.org/registration-2025-26/
We are starting to work on the video that will be played at the ceremony. We would love to get from every family a baby/toddler/younger picture of your child and then a more current 5th grade one to be used in the video.
You can upload them to this google drive: 5th Grade Continuation Photos. You can also feel free to email them to me if that's easier at emily_pool@dpsk12.net.
Click the link - 5th Grade Continuation Photos.
Click on your teacher's name
Click +New (in the upper left hand corner on desktop. On your phone, it's a colorful + on the bottom right)
Select the two pictures you want.
Click File Upload
Name them with your child's first and last name (how you want it on the screen)
Thanks!
Save Thursday, May 22nd from 6-7pm on your calendars for the 5th Grade Dance! More info coming soon!

Color in one pizza slice for each session completed.
Have a parent/guardian sign off at the end of the week.
Return this sheet to your teacher on Monday to stay on track!
