Dear Swigert Families,
We are in the midst of a celebratory week at Swigert as we gear up for winter break. Students are abuzz with excitement for the Lexia challenge, holiday parties, and fieldwork. On Friday we are encouraging students to wear the color blue or Swigert gear and/or an ugly holiday sweater. Our third graders are sharing their immigration stories with families this evening as a culminating presentation of learning to their current unit.
I wanted to highlight our Kindergarten fieldwork last week. As part of their History Unit, Where We are in Place and Time, they visited Balfour Learning Center. Each student created a question (or several) that they asked the Balfour residents to help further their understanding of how life was different in the past. Students asked a wide range of questions from: What did you play? What toys did you have? How did you cook your food? How did you get to school? What was your favorite outfit? They also sang some songs. It was quite a symbiotic experience with a great deal of joy.
Below are some photos from our WinterFest celebration last week! You can see all of the photos from the evening in a google drive here. It was wonderful seeing so many families. We hope you enjoyed the crafts, storyteller, harpist, one man theater, holiday displays and wonderful spread of desserts. Have a peaceful and healthy holiday break. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2025!
Sincerely,
Shelby Dennis

Friday, December 20 (B day): Ms. Marijke, Margulies, Page, Capozza, Ramos
