Dear Swigert Families,
I wanted to extend an invitation to Winterfest on Thursday at 6:00pm. It is one of two community wide events we host that is centered around celebrating and learning about different cultures from around the world. You can find details of the schedule here - Winterfest. As an International Baccalaureate School we work on fostering an international mindset. The International Baccalaureate (IB) defines international mindedness as a character trait that develops when someone understands their relationship to others in the world and their role in the global community. It involves:
Respecting cultural diversity
Being open to learning from others' perspectives
Working together to solve problems peacefully
Developing empathy and solidarity with others
Believing in the importance of global justice
Being multilingual
Developing intercultural understanding
Engaging globally
This event helps to encourage an intentional mindset in our students and school community. A huge shout out to Tabitha Jones and Emily Pool for coordinating and planning this special event. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Sincerely,
Shelby Dennis
From Mr. Fisher - With the winter Holidays fast approaching it is time to start thinking about how we can support families at Swigert. To that end, I will be collecting gift cards, Venmo, or cash donations so that we can provide Thanksgiving meals and gifts.
If you are able to contribute, you can bring gift cards and cash to the front office, or you can Venmo me at @Swigert-richard_fisher. With over 20 families as part of the program, I am hoping to raise approximately $4,000.
Thank you in Advance for any help you can provide.
Congratulations to our Swigert Spellers!
