Dear Swigert Families,
Welcome back from Thanksgiving Break! I hope you all had a nice time with your family and friends. It’s so hard to believe that it’s already December. I wanted to make sure you had Swigert’s Winterfest on your calendar - next Thursday (December 12th) from 6:00-8:00pm. Winterfest is a wonderful community event where we come together to celebrate different winter cultural traditions from around the world. We encourage families to bring a dessert to share from your holiday repertoire.
I also wanted to share a bit more about our literacy program at Swigert and highlight the resources shared at our community literacy night we held right before break. The presentation was chalk full of helpful information and resources to help support your child at home. The way we approach teaching reading has shifted over the past few years to address the science of reading and develop a program that supports the skills (phonics, phonemic awareness) as well as inspire a love of literature. Learn more about our approach as well as ways to support at home in this presentation - Literacy Night- Resources and Information.
We would love to see you at our Swigert Community Coffee on Friday morning at 8:20 in the Library. School leadership will be there to answer any questions you have about Swigert.
Thank you,
Shelby Dennis
We would love some donations of individual packets of hot chocolate to give away at Winterfest. If you can grab a box on your next shopping trip, we'd love them. You can drop them off in the main office or just send them with your student and I'll collect them from classroom teaches. Thanks in advance!
From Mr. Fisher - With the winter Holidays fast approaching it is time to start thinking about how we can support families at Swigert. To that end, I will be collecting gift cards, Venmo, or cash donations so that we can provide Thanksgiving meals and gifts.
If you are able to contribute, you can bring gift cards and cash to the front office, or you can Venmo me at @Swigert-richard_fisher. With over 20 families as part of the program, I am hoping to raise approximately $4,000.
Thank you in Advance for any help you can provide.
Mr. Lavezzo's class is hosting a Animal Donation Drive for the Dumb Friend's League. Details were on the flier that was sent home in Friday holders and check out their video here:
