Dear Swigert Families,
Welcome March and the business of spring. We look forward to hosting Kinder and Second Grade Families on Thursday for our Art and Music Night. I wanted to highlight one of our Kindergarten and Third grade partnerships. Ms. Aggarwal and Ms. Mosley’s classes partnered together to create posters for the Earth as part of their Sharing the Planet Unit.
Next year, we will be opening a 3rd–5th Grade Autism Program. It provides a place for our second grade students to transition to and stay part of the Swigert Community. We are looking for a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher and three para professionals to take on this important role.
If you know qualified educators or leaders who may be interested in joining our school community please email me at Shelby_Dennis@dpsk12.net. Thank you for your continued support of our staff and students. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out Sincerely, Shelby Dennis |

We'd like your feedback on Back To School events |
|
|
We would love some feedback on the events we host in the busy back to school fall time. We want to do a good job of balancing getting families all the information you want and need, with also respecting your time commitments.
If you have a a minute or two, could you fill out this survey as we start to make the fall event calendar. Thank you! https://forms.gle/q5CdewJprcVfJXWP7 |

Please remember that students should not be dropped off at school before 7:55 am (unless prior arrangements have been made with school administration). We do not have supervision on the playground until that time, and cafeteria staff is not ready to serve breakfast until that time. We would like all students to go to the playground upon arrival, and use the cafeteria doors from the playground if they are going in for breakfast. The front door should be utilized only for students entering with parents.
Also, parents should not be entering the building in the morning at drop off (aside from ECE). Please trust our staff to get your kids to class safely. Having so many adults in the building each morning during drop off causes confusion and creates safety concerns. If you absolutely must come into the building, we need you to enter the building through the front door, check in with the office, and get a visitor's sticker. Families should drop kids off in the kiss and go lane or on the playground, and staff will supervise them until time to go inside.
Please know that we take the safety of your children extremely seriously, and while these rules might feel inconvenient at times, they are ultimately in place to create a safe environment for all students and staff. |
