Dear Swigert Families,

Welcome to March! As a school community we all participate in March Book Madness, but modeled after the college basketball tournament. This is a creative and fun way to introduce students to diverse texts across the school. Teachers and guest readers share children’s books and each class votes on their favorite. We post a bracket in the front hallway and students can see which books are progressing to the final round. Ask your students at home which book is currently their favorite.

I wanted to highlight two events this week. PTA is sponsoring our third annual community bingo night. Families are welcome to join us from 6:30 to 7:30 in the cafeteria for some good old fashion bingo. This is a game everyone can participate in. We look forward to seeing you there. On Friday, we are hosting a parent coffee on anxiety and perfectionism. We are seeing more and more anxiety in our students. Our school psychologist, Kim Irk, will be going over some helpful strategies and ways you can support your child at home. It will start after drop off in the school library.

Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to our Science Fair volunteers, participants and winners. Thank you to Ms. Racha for all the organization and to all the students (and families) that worked diligently to create a project. Below is a list of the winners.

As always, reach out with any questions!

Middle School, ugh. It’s the worst. Greg is determined NOT to be at the bottom of the popularity chart. He’ll leave that to his eccentric neighbor Fregley, or his best friend Rowley Jefferson. But it’s not going to be Greg … no way. Will Greg’s plans lead him to sacrifice his one true friend? Can anyone avoid the dreaded Cheese Touch? Grab a hall pass, and don’t be late for an adventure familiar to anyone who survived middle school with this hilarious and heartfelt musical!
