Dear Swigert Families,

One of our school wide goals this year is to foster a love for literacy. We are wrapping up Carmella’s book challenge and wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to Dustin Chiappetta for his support ! I know the kids are so excited for their personal pizza at Carmella's.

Another component of this school side literacy initiative is our upcoming community literacy night.  We are upping our game this year with author talks, a book exchange, a poetry slam, informative sessions and literacy games for kids. This event will take place on: Thursday, February 19th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with your children, discover new books, and support literacy in our community. For more information check out this link - Swigert Literacy Night.

Last Friday, Swigert hosted business leaders from the Denver Chamber of Commerce. Swigert was chosen as part of their Education Day for business leaders to visit and hear first hand about what is happening in schools. We had two fifth graders give them a tour - thank you to Maggie Prosser and Benny Mitchell. On a fun note, Swigert International School has been nominated in the Best Elementary School category for Westword’s Best of Denver 2026! Cast Your Vote for Swigert! Swigert International ! Help us bring home the win by voting for Swigert. Voting is now open through March 9. Vote here.

Sincerely,

Shelby Dennis
