Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month! This month is a time to honor and learn about the cultures and traditions of Native American communities. Today, our students celebrated Native American Heritage Month during our school assembly. We are grateful to learn directly from Swansea students and their families who identify as members of this community.

Swansea is proud to be home to a diverse student population. At today’s assembly, we encouraged our students to continue the conversation at home with their guardians about their familial culture and history. We can’t wait to hear about the unique celebrations and traditions are meaningful to the families in the Swansea community!

Uniform Reminder

Students are required to wear their school uniform year-round, unless specified by your student’s teacher. Uniforms consist of a navy blue polo shirt, khaki or navy pants or khaki jumper. All students are required to wear a uniform every day. If students come to school without a uniform, they will be sent to the office immediately, and parents will be called to bring a uniform to school. The dress code is also outlined in the Parent Handbook.

Uniforms and other school apparel items are available for purchase in the main office.

Unidos por Swansea: Friday Nacho Sale

Unidos Por Swansea will be selling nachos Friday after school to help raise funds for the school. Please purchase a snack to support our school! The sale is cash only.

No Fast Food at Lunch

While it may be a convenient option, fast food may not be brought to students during the school day. Deliveries often arrive after a student’s assigned lunch time, and it can lead to disagreements among classmates who ask to share. Thank you for helping us maintain a smooth, positive lunchtime experience!

Math and Literacy Night

Save the date! Math and Literacy Night will be on Thursday, November 13 at 5 p.m.

During Math and Literacy Night, the Community Hub will provide families with a FREE grocery bag if they register with the Community Hub. Grocery bags include fresh food and staples like dairy, fruit, rice, beans and snacks. Registering with the Community Hub takes 10 minutes or less. When more Swansea families register with the Hub, our whole community benefits. Higher registration numbers allow the Hub to bring even more resources and services to our school community.

More details about the event will be sent home via email and text message.

Thank You Coat Distribution Event Volunteers

A huge thank-you to our volunteers for their warm hearts and hard work! Belen Miranda, Karen Rodriguez, Carlissa Barott, Bertha Rodelas, Wendy Jones, Sara Acosta, Mary Avila, Carla Marquez, Cherelle Barnes and Samantha Sanchez helped us organize jackets and fit every Swansea student for a new jacket last week! Thank you for helping keep our Swansea students warm and cozy this fall and winter season.

A Very Sweet Trunk or Treat

We wouldn’t have had such a sweet event without the support of our wonderful community partners and staff members. A special thank you to the Denver Recreation Center and Unidos Por Swansea for their support and candy donations!
