Looking for Parent Volunteers
Are you looking to get involved at Swansea? We are in need of parent volunteers to assist at a few upcoming events! Please see below:
Picture Day Retakes: We are looking for two parents to assist with Picture Day Retakes on November 11 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Operation Warm: Students will be receiving FREE coats on October 30th, and we are looking for 10 parent volunteers to help organize the donated coats and help students find the right fit.
Thanksgiving Lunch: Swansea is hosting their annual Thanksgiving lunch on November 20th. We are hoping to have 4 parent volunteers volunteers to help serve lunch from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Volunteers will be given free lunch as compensation for their time!

Uniforms are Required During the School Day on October 30
We are so excited to get into the Halloween spirit with our students, but please be advised that students are required to wear their school uniform during the school day on October 30. No costumes, accessories, toys or makeup may be worn during school hours. If students are not wearing their uniform, they will be sent to the nurse's office and asked to change.
Students are encouraged to wear a costume after school at the Trunk or Treat event, happening at 5 p.m.
Trunk-or-Treat is Next Thursday
We are looking for candy donations for this year's Trunk or Treat event (October 30 at 5 p.m.)! The event will end when we run out of candy, so the more candy the better! If you can contribute to this year's event, please bring your donation to the main office by Thursday, October 23.
Attendance Matters
Getting your student to school on time matters! If your student is late to school every day by....
5 minutes → Your student will have lost approximately 2.5 days of school, equivalent to missing approximately 15 lessons
10 minutes → Your student will have lost approximately 5 days of school, equivalent to missing approximately 29 lessons
15 minutes → Your student will have lost approximately 7.7 days of school, equivalent to missing approximately 44 lessons
20 minutes → Your student will have lost approximately 10.3 days of school, equivalent to missing approximately 58 lessons
30 minutes → Your student will have lost approximately 15.5 days of school, equivalent to missing approximately 88 lessons
Please make sure your student arrives on time to maintain strong school attendance and stay on track academically. Missing school means your student is missing out on valuable opportunities to grow and learn!
Contribute to Our School Ofrenda
Our school ofrenda has been built for Dia de Los Muertos! Students are invited to contribute photos or mementos that remind them of their deceased loved ones. Bring copies of photos and mementos to the Main Office. If you are unable to make a copy of a photo, ask the office to help! (We kindly ask that students do not bring valuables or irreplaceable items.) All are invited to participate in this tradition and bring in a photo to add to the ofrenda!
Free Coats for all Swansea Students
Please join us in thanking Ms. Babb! She has organized an event where ALL Swansea students will receive a brand new winter coat for FREE! This year's event will take place on Thursday, October 30. This year’s event is sponsored by Angela Bergquist Insurance Agency with Country Financial and supported by the Community Hub. Please ensure your student is on time and present at school! As mentioned earlier, we are looking for 10 parent volunteers to assist with this event! If you're interested, please contact the main office. Your support would be greatly appreciated!
Swansea Elementary Fundraiser at Odie B’s
There's still time to head to Odie B's, a bodega in RiNo! This month Odie B's is supporting Swansea Elementary! All diners will be asked to round up their order total to the nearest whole dollar to benefit Swansea Elementary, and our school will receive the donations from the generosity of diners. The Odie B’s restaurant manager is a former Swansea teacher and wants to help support our school community! Let's show their business some love!

They are open from: Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Family Shoutouts
We want to get give a huge thank you to Paola Medrano for being an incredible example of dedication and generosity. Paola is an amazing architect and, even while navigating major life changes, she still manages to volunteer in the classroom. Thank you for showing us all what it means to balance hard work, kindness and strength!
