Grateful for Our Volunteers

Before students went on break, Belen Miranda, Karen Torres, Bertha Rodelas and Sara Acosta volunteered to serve our Stallions a Thanksgiving feast! Our students’ lunch trays and hearts were full. We are thankful for your help!

Unidos Por Swansea helped show appreciation for our staff members, too! From the Swansea staff, thank you for thinking of us and demonstrating care. We are grateful for all you do!

Birthday Celebrations

At Swansea, we honor student birthdays in a fun and equitable way. Each child receives a birthday crown and a special pin to wear with their school uniform on their special day. To help keep classroom learning uninterrupted, we do not allow families to bring cakes, cupcakes, balloons or other party items to school.

Swansea Recreation Center Offers Food Assistance

Tasty Food Denver is a food assistance program for youth, ages 3–18, and they help provide breakfast, lunch, supper and/or a nutritious snack. Tasty Food meals include up to five food groups that are low in fat and prepared fresh. No ID or registration required. The Swansea Recreation Center is a Tasty Food site! They serve supper Monday – Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and serve lunch on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. –1:00 p.m.

SchoolChoice is Open

For the 2026-27 school year, the Round 1 window is now open and closes on Jan. 20, 2026 at 4 p.m. Families will be notified of placement results in late February. The SchoolChoice timeline is especially important for our ECE-3, ECE-4 and fifth grade families! If you have questions about SchoolChoice, please visit the SchoolChoice website, https://schoolchoice.dpsk12.org/, or contact the main office!

Mystery Staff Member of the Week

This week’s mystery staff member was born in San Juan Puerto Rico and grew up in Corozal, Puerto Rico. His favorite book is Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, a novel about a mathematician working to break a code to protect and save the National Security Agency and country.

Our mystery stallion also loves hiking, playing video games, drawing and singing. Can you guess who it is?
