Letter from Principal Ken Burdette

Greetings Steck Community:

Hope this message finds you well and enjoying a longer weekend than usual.  We continue to push the Steck STARS traits each day, and will lean on these guiding principles throughout the month of May, especially with all the exciting end-of-year activities to come.  I ask that you continue to do so at home as well.  As a reference point, these traits are Supportive, Trustworthy, Accepting, Responsible, and Safe.

I am eagerly looking forward to our Steckretariat Fun Run this Friday, May 8th. Our goal is to raise $35,000, and we appreciate all your help and support in reaching this goal.  We will use some of this money to install a swing set on the main playground in front of the school.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Ken Burdette

Steck Spirit Days - May

Every Friday is always Steck Spirit wear day!

APRIL STARBUCKS ASSEMBLY

We didn't have Starbucks winners for the month of April, instead the younger students encouraged the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders before they began state assessments known as CMAS (Colorado Measure of Academic Standards):

DPS Shakespeare Festival

Steck had a fantastic showing at the 42nd annual Shakespeare festival! We performed in the "Queen's Arms" stage out on the DCPA lawn. Both groups received outstanding marks and feedback for our Romeo & Juliet with Beach Boys flair. The whole day was full of Good Vibrations from the morning school performances, exploring the festival, final circle read-through, and performance.  Already looking forward to next year!  Great work Steck Stars!

Nurse's Corner

Hello Steck families,

As the summer quickly approaches I have just a few end-of-year reminders for our families. If your child has medication kept at the health office, please be prepared to pick up the medication by the last day of school! Any medication that is not picked up by the end of school, May 29th, will be disposed of. Steck does not keep medications over the summer. I will be sending out reminders to individual families over the next few weeks as well.

I also want to remind parents that as it warms up, the water needs of our students increase, especially due to us not yet having an HVAC system in the building. Please be sure to send your student with a water bottle to school every day to avoid dehydration and heat fainting.

Eighteen more days!
