TAP (Tardies Are Not Permitted) Policy

  • Students should be in their seats, in their first period class and ready for instruction at the beginning of the school day.

  • Students who arrive late to school must report to the main office to obtain a pass. School tardies will be considered “unexcused.”

  • If a student receives 2 or more tardies in one day, they will be assigned TAP after-school intervention the following day from 3:30-3:50.

  • Families will receive a dialer notification if their child has been assigned for transportation purposes. If a student rides a school bus, there will be an option to serve TAP during lunch.

If a student does not attend TAP on the assigned day, there will be additional consequences.

  • Families are not able to reschedule TAP if there are conflicts after-school on the assigned day.

Skinner Parent Library Volunteers

Although Skinner Middle School does not have a school librarian (due to school funding), we are grateful for our amazing Skinner parents who volunteer their time in our amazing library.  If you are interested in joining the wonderful crew of parents, please email Julie_Stephens@dpsk12.net.  You will need to complete the DPS Volunteer Background Check process using this link. If you need any support, here is the guide. Please come to one of our meeting/training sessions on Monday, September 8th, either at 8:30am or 2:30pm to learn more about how you can help.  Please sign up for a meeting time here: Sign-up Genius. If you are unable to attend on September 8th, there will be other options to get trained. Thank you!

Support Staff Needs Your Help!

Skinner's support staff team is in need of your help! We have many students who are in need of a snack on a daily basis. Please check our Amazon wishlist and consider making a donation so we are able to sustainably offer healthy snacks to our students in need.  We also have some items listed to re-stock our Skinner loaner closet for students who need a change of clothes in the day. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to our community's youth!

No Energy Drinks Please

Skinner families, we wanted to remind everyone that energy drinks are not allowed at school for lunch. We have noticed an increase of students drinking energy drinks before school and during lunch. We want to make sure our students have healthy lunches that support their learning. Thank you for your support!

Longmont Dairy's Milk Caps for Mooola!

Skinner is part of Longmont Dairy's Milk Caps for Mooola program.  Please save all Longmont Dairy caps (milk, juice, lemonade, cold brew, etc.) and turn them into the container in Skinner's main office.  Skinner's PTO will earn 5 cents per cap so save, save, save!

Edison's 100th

Edison Elementary School in Denver is celebrating its 100-year anniversary on Friday, September 19, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the school campus. The open house event invites current and former students, families, staff, and community members to explore the school’s history through a scavenger hunt, historical exhibits, a slideshow, and more. Highlights include local food trucks and a preview of the school’s planned Legacy Garden. The celebration honors Edison’s legacy of learning and community while looking ahead to its future. More information is available at edisonptadenver.org/100-year-celebration

Back to School Night - Sept 11th 5:30-7:30pm

We are excited to host Skinner families and students for Back to School Night:

  • Please plan on attending on time with your child.  Students may not attend without a parent/guardian. All families and students should plan to enter the Main Entrance on 40th Street.  Doors will open at 5:15 - please plan accordingly - taking into consideration traffic and parking. Parking is available on neighboring streets.

  • For the first hour, you’ll follow your child’s schedule for Period 1-7, with opportunities to meet every teacher in their classrooms.  Each class period will be 7 minutes, with a 3 minute passing period.

  • It would be extremely helpful if you could have your child’s class schedule available in advance by reviewing the Parent Portal.  Learning Family Mentors will support students in emailing you their class schedule as well.  Hard copy class schedules will be available at the Main Entrance between 5:00-5:20 p.m.

  • The second hour will be a Community mix/mingle event with opportunities to connect with Skinner Staff and school/community resources.

  • Cosmo’s Pizza will be provided after classroom rotations, with a suggested donation of $1-2 dollars per slice (cash only).

Skinner PTO
The Skinner PTO is a community of parents, guardians, and staff working together to support our school and create memorable experiences for our students. You don’t have to commit to attending every monthly meeting — you can jump in on projects that excite you or bring you joy!

From the Fall Festival and school dances to fundraisers and special events, there will be plenty of opportunities to help out throughout the year. Whether you love planning, decorating, organizing, or just lending a hand when needed, there’s a place for you. Contact PTO President Frank Coyne at fcoyne7@gmail.com to get involved!
