  • Date: Thursday, April 3rd from 5:15 PM – 6:45 PM; doors open at 4:30 PM

  • Location: Skinner Middle School Cafeteria – 3435 W. 40th Ave, Denver, CO 80211

A bond project idea that could be funded with this money would be the recommended long-term redesign of W 38th Avenue between Sheridan Blvd and Fox St. The project team has come up with a recommendation to make W 38th Ave safer for all street users, increase green infrastructure, and give more space to sustainable transportation. The third and final public meeting for this project will be on April 2 at 5:30 PM at the Potenza Lodge. Please come to that as well to hear more details!

Math Skills Toolset

The Colorado Department of Education has unveiled a new tool to help students learn fundamental math skills and improve their understanding and performance. It’s an online toolkit with lessons and activities for grades K-12. The toolkit was created by K-12 math teachers and college education professors. Hayley Murphy, a middle school math teacher at Denver Online School, said the toolkit can help students understand math concepts as opposed to just following rules and formulas.

Vision and Hearing Screenings

Denver Public Schools provides free vision, and hearing screenings for all students in identified grades (Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th). Skinner will have their screening for 7th graders only on April 21, 2025. The screenings are NOT an assessment or an evaluation and do NOT replace professional exams. Mass screening is considered best practice to identify students who may be at risk for health concerns affecting the student’s ability to learn, and who may need extra support to reach academic benchmarks. You must notify Skinner School Nurse directly at Lindsay_Koller@dpsk12.net or 720-424-1434 if you wish to REFUSE/OPT-OUT of any of the free screenings for your student.

Message from Skinner's School Nurse

With the current measles outbreak happening in our country and nearby states, it is more important than ever to make sure your child is fully vaccinated against this dangerous and extremely contagious disease. The best way to protect your child is with a vaccine. Please reach out to our nurse Lindsay_koller@dpsk12.net for a list of vaccine sites available!

8th Grade Trip to North High

On Wednesday, April 9, Skinner 8th graders are going to North High School to see the production of “Shrek the Musical”. We will leave Skinner around 11:00 am (after CMAS testing) and return by 3:15pm. Students will be eating lunch at Skinner before we leave. Unfortunately, there is not an opportunity to have a late arrival or an early dismissal from North due to the potential to interrupt the production. If your student needs to leave during that time frame, please arrange to pick them up before we leave for NHS at 11am.
