Message from Assistant Principal Ryan Cronshaw

Dear Skinner Families: I wanted to reach out and let you know that I will be transitioning from my role as AP at Skinner after the 24-25 school year. While Denver has been our home for the last decade, my family and I made the difficult decision to relocate from the Denver metro area this summer. Skinner has been a wonderful home for the last six years. I have greatly enjoyed serving as a teacher, coach, and leader in such a wonderful community and have grown immensely because of it! Thank you all for the many opportunities to serve your family.

As I transition on to new endeavors, Skinner will soon undertake a process to identify the next Assistant Principal. While I am sad to no longer be a part of this team, I know whoever follows will be in great hands. I learned so much under the tutelage of Julie, Shawn, and the entire Skinner staff, who so gracefully mentored me in my journey. Whoever comes next is an incredibly lucky human to have such great mentors and work with such a supportive community.

Skinner Dress Code

Skinner Middle is considering making changes to our dress code based on community (student, parent, staff) feedback. We have received feedback that some of our dress code policies might be perceived as targeting female students.  Also, some of the restrictions on length and width may not be aligned with current fashion trends. While we need to balance the need for promoting an academic atmosphere, we want to try to find a middle ground on some adjustments.  Principal Julie Stephens will be engaging in dress code student forums in the next few weeks prior to finalizing. Please continue to partner with Skinner in ensuring that your child comes to school in current dress code expectations until the changes are officially announced. Feel free to review proposed changes and share any feedback with Julie by email: Julie_Stephens@dpsk12.net or 720-424-1463.

Webinar: Practical Tools for Reducing Anxiety and Building Resilience in Young People - Wednesday, May 14 at Noon

Join us for an informative webinar designed for parents, families and other trusted adults where you will learn practical tools to help young people reduce anxiety, strengthen resilience, and enhance overall well-being.

Tessa Zimmerman founded Upstream after experiencing severe panic attacks as a young adult, which highlighted the critical lack of mental health resources available in schools. Over the past nine years, she has successfully grown Upstream, positively impacting more than 50,000 students across Colorado and nine other states.

Tessa will share her personal story of overcoming anxiety and provide concrete strategies that you can implement with your own children to help them cope with anxiety and build resilience.
