PHE Families:

We had a great turn out at last Friday's movie night, and I loved seeing our community out and enjoying events together.  Also, we raised a great deal of money for the school!!! Thank you for your tireless support of our school, our students, and our staff.  We could not do this work without our family partnerships.

Thank you for attending Coffee with the Principal last Friday.  Below you will see a link to some of the information shared regarding Gifted and Talented services at PHE and DPS.  Please reach out if you have any questions, and I am looking forward to our next Coffee in October.

Enjoy this weekend!

No school Friday, September 27

We will have no school tomorrow. Please enjoy the extended weekend.

Lost and Found

A reminder to please label ALL coats, long sleeve shirts, other clothing accessories, and water bottles.  We can return anything we find with a name, but otherwise these items pile up in lost and found. We will eventually donate any unclaimed items, so please help us get your students' items back to them!  Please have your student stop by lost and found or families are welcome to stop by the school if you are missing anything.

Lost and Found

Used Clothing needs

We are low on smaller girls underwear, leggings, and pants which we keep in the office.  We could also use some smaller size t-shirts for all students. If you have anything you no longer need, please drop them off in the office. We use these for bathroom accidents, spills, and other clothing mishaps.

Mr Wiant’s Learning Videos

From Mr Wiant: As many of you know, I write a lot of songs to help teach concepts in my classroom. After many years of talking about it, I've recently started making videos to go along with the songs to help teach the concepts. I have begun posting these videos on my new Youtube channel. I wanted to make you aware in case they might be useful in your classroom or home, or in someone you know's classroom or home. I will continue to add videos, as I have many more to finish and am always writing new songs. Thank you!

School Pictures
If you ordered pictures they should have gone home with your student yesterday (or yet today).  Otherwise, to order, log in to your account on
mylifetouch.com or create an account using your student's student ID number. You can find ID numbers on Parent Portal or by contacting the office.

Reminder: October Count

On Tuesday, October 1, schools throughout the state of Colorado perform attendance counts.  These counts determine funding allocations for schools and are vital for our budget and ensuring staffing and school support for your children.  The district will receive ~$8400 per student this year. We request that all families have their children at school this day if at all possible.  The exception to this is if your child is sick, please keep them at home of course!

Reminder: Gifted and Talented Cognitive Testing

The fall nomination window is open for CogAT testing. You can use this link to sign up. All submissions are sent directly to the GT central office for rostering.

Sign-up is available for all students except:

  • Students in Kindergarten and 2nd grade (These students will take part in our GT universal screening this fall.)

  • Students already identified HGT or ME (magnet eligible)

Walk & Roll to School - Wednesday, October 9

Walk & Roll to School Day is an annual event that involves communities from across the country (and globe!) walking and rolling to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Today, thousands of schools across America—from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico—participate every October. Over time, this celebration has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school. We may also have a celebrity crossing guard.

Community Item: Pumpkin Truck and Street Fair

The Park Hill Pumpkin Truck arrives at 9am on Saturday, September 28th! This fun “farm/back-to-nature family experience” has been a Park Hill tradition for the past 25 years (since 1999), so come join in. Kids can last maybe an hour… and then you can have a little mid-morning snack with us... The more the merrier, as long as we are organized, and not too fatigued. Wear gloves and bring your wheel barrow and wagon.

The Park Hill Street Fair on Forest Parkway will be the next day, Sunday, September 29th 11am -5pm, so we will open for those hours. Beginning Sept. 30, hours will be 11am - 6:30 pm (or dusk) Sunday through Friday. Saturdays we will open at 9am-5pm.

As you know, we raise the money for social justice trips for the youth planned this year in February and summer.

THANKS for being such a great neighborhood!!! Questions? Call/text JacquiO (Lantern) Shumway at 303-725-7482. Also, if you would like to help out at the patch or have a children's group that would like to do Story Time one morning in October, JacquiO can help you!

About Us

The Park Hill PTSA is a volunteer-based service organization with two goals:

  • Bridge the gap between school and home by building community.

  • Raise funds to cover educational necessities that the district (DPS) does not cover. In addition to covering costs to better the school itself, our efforts in fundraising support essential school workers and programs that benefit our teachers and children.

We’ll continue to provide more “what we do” information in the coming weeks and as the school year gets rolling!
