Happy Spring PHE Families:
Students and staff will be wrapping up the student-led fundraiser today with the Super Mega Awesome Dance Party! Kids brought in all sorts of loose change and worked hard to raise a few dollars for the school. Their hard work will go into redoing the stairs on the west side of the playground to accommodate the traffic we see there in the mornings and at dismissal. Safety is always one of our top priorities so we are happy to see this pinch-point get relieved. It is not too late to donate if you would like to support the cause. Thanks to the students, PTSA, and parent volunteers for their help making this such a successful and fun event!
Finally, as I’ve noted the past two weeks, our teaching staff is working on class placements. This process takes in inputs from all the different staff members who work with your student to find their most appropriate placement. We appreciate your trust in the matter. The office will communicate all placements in early June. We know there can be uncertainty with new teachers and grade levels. Our team going into next year is the strongest since I have been here, and we’re looking forward to a great year of learning.

Park Hill Food Drive
Park Hill will be hosting a Food Drive on Monday, May 5th to support our community of families in need. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school to come together and make a meaningful impact.
Each grade has been assigned a food item that is nonperishable and sustainable through the summer. All donations will be brought to your child's homeroom teacher.
ECE - Cereal (the healthier the better)
Kinder - Crackers & Spices (Spices are a wonderful way to add flavor to bland meals. Many of our families would enjoy the following spices: curry, garam masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, cardamom, chili powder, black pepper, fenugreek, saffron, pink salt & ginger)
1st - Oats & Dried Fruit (please be mindful of added sugars in the dried fruit)
2nd - Dry Pasta & Lentils (As we all know, pasta and lentils are quick and easy meals, but it’s also important to note that our families are used to more basics and plain instead of mac & cheese).
3rd - Dry Beans & Fruit Cups
4th - Flour & Peanut Butter
5th - Rice/Couscous/Quinoa
Any parents interested in helping box up items on Monday are welcome to come to the school around 8:30am.

Composting at PHE
Our 4th grade sustainability club recently did a waste audit in the lunchroom to measure how much food gets thrown away. The results motivated the club to start a pilot composting program. Our 4th and 5th grade students composted all week, and we diverted a majority of items from the landfill. The club is excited to roll this out to more of the school going forward. Please help support our programs by recycling and composting at home!
