Happy Friday PHE Families

Thanks to everyone that made it to our Family Curriculum night.  There has been a lot of effort here at the school and the district level to make sure students are using the best evidence and research based learning models.  Our test results and other measures and observations help us to evaluate their effectiveness, and we are happy with the trends we have seen the past few years.  Family collaborations are really important to these successes.

It looks like more snow is potentially coming next week.  Please leave a few minutes earlier for school on these days to allow for the extra cars and traffic.  Also, make sure students have the gear they need to be successful outside in the weather.

Have a nice weekend!

Ken Burdette, Principal

Grades available in Campus Parent/Parent Portal

First term grades are now available for your children.  These can be viewed in the Campus Parent app or through the Parent Portal link.  Questions about specific grades should be directed to the appropriate teacher.  If you need your child’s student ID number (it is the same as their Chromebook logins so many students have them memorized) you can contact the front office.

School Choice Round 1 open Jan 15 - Feb 18, 2025

Families with students new to DPS or continuing on to middle school will need to make sure to complete the School Choice applications this winter.

Park Hill Bike Bus - every Wednesday

What is a Bike Bus? A simple routine; creating a safe and fun way for kids to get to school by bike and to help make the morning commute easy, reliable, and safe.

Where: The Bike Bus will run along 19th Ave. Bikes will enter the school at Fairfax St. where most bike racks are.

Starting meet-up spots:

  • 19th & Niagara (led by Liz Brodahl)

  • 22nd & Dexter parking lot (led by Bret Taber)

  • 22nd & Kearney at Cake Crumbs (led by Lisa Brownlee + Kera Murphy)

  • 25th & Holly (led by Shannon Spezialy)

  • South of 17th (looking for a volunteer)

When: Every Wednesday. Meet at 7:40 am, roll out by 7:50 am, and arrive at the school at 8 am at the latest to avoid the heavy car traffic.

Visit the  PHE Bike Bus Website for all the details! Bike Bus weather cancellations will be posted on PHE’s Instagram page so be sure to follow.

Ridwell

PHE is keeping plastic film out of landfills with Ridwell this fall! To participate in this limited-time recycling drive, bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to the main office from now until November 22nd and Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. It’ll be turned into new decking materials instead! Start collecting plastic film at home now so you have a bunch for the drive.

Curious about at-home recycling pickup from Ridwell? They collect hundreds of common household items you can’t recycle curbside, like plastic food packaging, lightbulbs, clothes, Styrofoam, and more. If you sign up for a household membership by December 15, you’ll also help earn pickup of the school’s plastic film all spring (when 10 new members sign up).

Visit https://get.ridwell.com/phe for more information and to sign up for your membership.
