Happy Spring PHE Families:
Third, fourth and fifth grade students wrapped up CMAS this week. I’m proud to report that students worked really hard all week, and we’re thankful for their effort. We know testing can be stressful for some and elicit all sorts of emotions. Staff did a great job in supporting students with extra breaks, treats, and meeting students' needs as they came up. I look forward to sharing results once we receive them. Kudos to all.
As we noted recently, in May our combined teaching staff (homeroom, intervention, special ed and other staff) will begin the thoughtful process of placing students into classes for next school year. This is done with extreme care and intention. We take many factors into consideration to ensure the most appropriate placements for all students. We appreciate your trust in this matter. We plan to email placements out in early June as in past years.
On a personal note, I fully recognize that parents talk about class placements and teacher experiences. I urge you to be mindful that every child's experience is unique and different. From time to time, an experience in one classroom or with one teacher may not have been what you had been looking for; nonetheless, this experience for another student may have been magical or just what that student needed. I also want to remind us that our teachers are human beings - they are mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, neighbors, etc. Please be mindful of how you might choose to speak about a teacher or a classroom experience.
Have a nice weekend.
-Ken Burdette, Principal
