Did you know that DPS appoints a committee of volunteers to help oversee and advise the district after bond measures are passed by Denver voters? The volunteers on the 2020 Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) worked tirelessly to ensure that promises made were promises kept. Hear more from our passionate volunteers, Veronica Booz and Becca Norris, about their experience on the BOC in this week’s episode of the EDUCA Podcast. Watch in English and Spanish.
The 2020 Bond allowed for ECE students playground improvements to be a priority, and our young scholars at Cheltenham Elementary School are reaping the benefits. See their new playground in our latest video. Thank you, Denver voters, for your investment in public education! To learn more about the prospective school improvement projects in the 2024 bond package, visit our Bond website.
In this week’s episode of our 2024 Bond Industry Insider series, we hear from DPS’ Chief of Operations, Trena Marsal. Trena gives us a peek behind the curtain of what managing the critical maintenance needs of DPS schools looks like. For more information on what maintenance updates your school may receive should the 2024 Bond measure be passed, check out the 2024 Bond Allocation Dashboard. The DPS Student-Athletes of the Week highlights students who excel not only in their chosen activity, but also in academics, leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship and teamwork. Congratulations to our student-athletes of the week, Alesha Munoz-Sturgeon and Robert Wittke. Keep up the great work!
Roddrick Marshall, a custodian at DC-21 at Wyman, will receive his high school diploma from Colorado’s first tuition-free, public high school for adults, The Excel Center. 30 years after receiving his GED, he is now running for student council to be the first School President!
Roddrick attends school full-time and is also a mentor for DPS students, encouraging them to stay in school and make good choices. He is also on Soar Elementary’s Board as an active board member and volunteers for Denver Street Partnership.
