Make an Impact in Your Community: Join the 2024 Denver Public Schools Bond Oversight Committee

Join the 2024 Bond Oversight Committee to help ensure transparency and accountability in your school district's funding. The committee will monitor and advise the school district on the use of general obligation bond funds from the 2024 bond. Applications will remain open until Feb. 6 and are available in English and in Spanish.

DPS FACE University Upcoming Parenting Programs and Learning Sessions

School Choice Process Livestream: Tuesday, Jan. 14, 3:30-4 p.m. Watch on Facebook livestream or YouTube livestream.

Register for the Virtual Calm and Kind Family Program: Feb. 3-6, 8-9 a.m. or 5:30-6:30 p.m. This program equips parents with tools to support their children emotionally in three key areas: mental health, self-regulation and managing emotions. You'll learn practical strategies to help your child handle emotions healthily while regulating your own emotions to provide calmer, more effective support. Parents receive a certificate of completion and ticket giveaways for families at each session. This program is offered in English and Spanish. Limited spots are available.

Join DPS for the 41st MLK Marade

The Martin Luther King Jr. Marade will take place on Monday, Jan. 20 to honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. This annual event combines a march and a parade, celebrating victories achieved in combating injustices and marching non-violently to confront injustices in the future. The purpose of the holiday is to unify and educate communities. The MLK Youth Education Committee will host a Youth Talent Show on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Community College of Aurora. They will also host the MLK Bike Ride on Monday, Jan. 20 from 2-4 p.m. 

The first 20 DPS team members to sign up will receive a 41st MLK Anniversary T-shirt as a token of appreciation! All volunteers will receive detailed information about the Marade next week. Sign up at this link.

The Culture, Equity and Leadership Team Announces Year Four of Achieving Excellence Academy

Achieving Excellence Academy (AEA) is a free, cultural, summer enrichment program for rising ninth through 12th graders, taking place June 9-July 2 with orientation on June 5. This program highlights the experiences of Asian-American/Pacific Islander, Black/African-American, Latine/LatinX and Indigenous students and families. The AEA helps students develop leadership skills, uncover passions and form strong commitments to social justice and service, where lifelong friendships and lasting memories are made! 

Program Highlights:

  • Fun, hands-on learning!

  • Multicultural-blended homerooms

  • Cultural student affinity groups

  • Cultural excursions - Lincoln Hills, Cleo Parker Robinson, University of Denver and more

  • Teaching teams, staff and community members who reflect student identities
