October 13th - No School
Next week, our SEL classes will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month! Students are invited to bring in a snack or an artifact that represents their Hispanic heritage to share with their class on Tuesday and/or Thursday. This is a fun opportunity for students to learn from one another and celebrate the cultures that make our community so special.
PTO will be meeting twice a day (AM & PM), bi-weekly on Thursdays. Next PTO meeting is October 23rd. View the full October PTO Calendar here: https://oakland.dpsk12.org/page/parent-teacher-organization for more information.
Thank you for encouraging your students to participate in our Literacy Launch activities! It was wonderful to celebrate so many students during our September Village meeting. Be sure to ask your child which book they chose from the book vending machine—it’s been such a fun way to reward their hard work and love of reading.
As we move into October, we’ll continue celebrating students for growing as readers with October's Fall into Reading tracker. Encourage your student to read independently and as a family this month. For every 30 minutes of reading students do at home, they can color in one pumpkin in their pumpkin patch. Students can bring their trackers to Fall Fest on October 30th for tickets to the prize room! Students may still complete weekly activities on their bingo cards and share their progress with their teachers to be recognized at our October Village Meeting.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow as readers!
Help support our PTO by participating in our $1 Dress Down Days! All you do is pay $1 at the table set up in front of the office, and your child may dress out of uniform, in school appropriate clothing.
PTO $1 Dress Down Days will be every Wednesday and Friday. Funds will go towards our Oakland Yearbook Program, special events, and classroom support.
Thank you for your support!
