A Note from the Nest...

Allison Cetak
Ms. Allison Cetak

Greetings Nighthawks,

My name is Allison Cetak, and I am a freshmen advisor and senior team lead here at Northfield. I joined the staff in 2022, and have had the pleasure of supporting our current advisory program from the early days, when it was just an idea.

At Northfield, we take great pride in supporting our ninth grade students as they transition to high school. One of the cornerstones to this support is our Advisory Program. Advisory at Northfield looks a bit different at than other schools. My teammates and I work tirelessly to support the well-being of each of our freshmen, through executive functioning support, mental health check-ins, and our mentoring program, which allows freshmen students to connect with upperclassmen, both academically and socially. It’s also the place where our freshmen connect and build community with one another. Northfield is a vast community, and Advisory creates a space where every single student is seen, valued, and supported as they find their way through their first year of high school.

With the DPS School Choice window fast approaching, we know how important it is to make an informed decision about high school. Northfield will host an open house on Thursday, Nov. 7, 6-8 p.m. Prospective students and their families are invited to come meet our staff and current students, as well as explore our campus.

Freshmen Advisory is just one of the many things that make Northfield a great place to be!
