DSF

Hello Nighthawks Families!

We are the Denver Scholarship Foundation’s (DSF) Future Center at Northfield High School. Zack Montez is the lead 12th grade college advisor, and Leslie Andrade serves as the college advisor for grades 9-11. The Future Center strives to help students apply to post-secondary institutions, as well as to scholarships and financial aid. Students of any grade in need of assistance or wanting to get career and college conversations going should not hesitate to reach out.

We have exciting news for Northfield juniors and seniors as the DSF College Fair date is now confirmed. On Thursday, Oct. 31, 1:30-2:30 p.m., the school will host our annual college fair through the Colorado Council. More than 40 in- and out-of-state colleges and universities will be in attendance ready to give students information on where and how they can pursue their post-secondary plans. Due to capacity reasons, we are unable to open the fair to underclassmen. We sincerely hope you understand.

As October comes to an end, early action deadlines begin to approach! Help us help your senior by ensuring they create their FAFSA account. Parents/guardians need to create accounts as well. FAFSA will open on or before Sunday, Dec. 1.

As always, please contact Ms. Andrade or Mr. Montez for any questions, comments, or concerns.

Share Your Opinion: DPS Your Voice/Tu Voz Survey

The DPS Board is committed to improving student and school outcomes across the district so that Every Learner Thrives. To help, DPS conducts "Your Voice / Tu Voz" surveys during the academic school year to understand the perceptions of students, parents, and guardians. Students are surveyed to understand how 3rd- through 12th grade students perceive their academic experience and their social-emotional health. Families are surveyed to learn the extent to which parents/guardians feel welcomed, involved, and informed. The survey is open now through Friday, Nov. 1. Questions should take 5-10 minutes to answer. Individual responses are kept private; overall results are from across the district to ensure confidentiality. If you have any questions or need help while filling out this survey, please see the FAQs.

Health & Wellness at Northfield

The DPS Comprehensive Health Education Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is conducting a survey to collect parent/guardian thoughts, feelings, and experiences surrounding health education, sexual health education, and other related topics/issues/resources in and around Northfield High School. The survey is optional and anonymous. Responses will be grouped together with the answers of other DPS parents/guardians and reported to the district as a general summary that will not include any identifying information. Please note this survey is NOT a space to report individuals or incidents. Please use appropriate channels, including Safe2Tell, if you need to report specific individuals or incidents. YAC is a student-run organization with participating members from across the district who are committed to creating lasting cultural change within DPS schools to help students be healthier, safer, more empowered and better informed.

City Year Tutoring Opportunities

City Year, an education nonprofit, is partnering with Northfield this year to further student and school success. As part of this partnership, Northfield students are invited to take advantage of tutoring with City Year representatives following the completion of a permission form by a parent/guardian. Students can get help with their classwork, homework, projects and papers, as well as obtain support in reaching out to teachers about missing work. City Year Tutoring is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 4-5 p.m., in the Library. During these times, students can work independently or with a City Year Coach, and do not have to stay for the duration. City Year coaches serve in 10th grade math classes throughout the school day but can support in any subject.
