Wolfpack Weekly: Community Newsletter 1/9

NEC Principal poses with Wolfie mascot, and 3 students holding up beads earned in a spirit week game

Greetings NEC Families,

Welcome back to NEC! I hope you all had a warm and restful break. It's officially the second half of the school year, and we're excited to be back!

As we return to classroom, I just want to remind you all that it is flu season. Please do your part to keep our community healthy! Stay up to date on vaccines, wash your hands often, and avoid close contact with people who are sick.

If you have flu-like symptoms (for example, a fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, etc), please stay home from school. Remember that a guardian must call our office to report your absence in order for your absence to be excused. You should return to NEC when you've been fever-free for 24 hours and your symptoms are improving.

Let's keep our community healthy and safe as we head into 2026!

Warmly,

Jennifer Warren, Principal

🎉 Update From the Attendance Team: Semester 1

Throughout Semester 1, our Attendance Team was hard at work making sure our students were in class and ready to learn! Here's what we were up to:

  • We reached out consistently, calling and messaging students and families to offer support and celebrate progress. We used two-way communication so families had a voice and quick answers.
  • We rewarded effort: students earned certificates and treats for great attendance (including pan dulce and churros)!
  • We knocked on doors (literally). Home visits helped us connect with families, understand barriers to attendance, and build solutions together.

THANK YOU families and students for your partnership in improving attendance! Let's keep it up in Semester 2 🎉
