Greetings NEC Families,

Thank you all for a wonderful first week of school! We might only be one week in, but we've already had many memorable moments.

On the first day of school, each class got to know each other better with group activities and games in the gym. On the second day of school, DPS Superintendent Dr. Marrero and DPS Board Directors visited our classrooms and listened as our students shared ideas. And this week, 12th grader Danica Colunga and our Mentorship Coordinator Keil Oberlander were featured in this CBS news story about the DPS mentorship program! I'm so energized by all the great things happening in our building and our community already.

We've got more coming up! Read on for details about upcoming events like Senior Sunrise, Picture Day, Back to School Night and more.

With Gratitude,

Jennifer Warren

📣 Get Involved - And Bring Your School Spirit!

We are looking for students to help us up our school spirit! Here's how you can get involved:

  • Audition to be our next Wolfie (our wolf mascot) at school events this year!

  • Sign up to be on our Spirit Board! Our Spirit Board will meet roughly twice a month for an hour or less at a time. Help us come up with a plan to increase our school spirit!

🚌 Using Transportation Services? Download the MyRide App

If your student is taking DPS busses to and from school, we encourage you (and your student) to use the MyRide App. The app has route information and notifications about bus location and delays.

✏️ Course Change Requests Due Aug. 26

The deadline to request a course change is Tuesday, August 26. If you wish to request a course change, be sure to scan a QR code on the gold flyers posted around NEC. We will come get you from class to complete your request. If you are not in class when we come to get you, your request will not be completed.

If you have already gotten a schedule change from an NEC staff member, we will not grant a second change. Thank you!
