Greetings NEC Families,

I hope you all had a great week! Coming up next week, we have our College Fair on Monday and our National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on Tuesday. Wednesday is picture retakes.

We also wanted to give families a heads up about the Healthy Kids Colorado Survey (HKCS), which we will be conducting on November 5th for students in grades 9-12. Questions will take one class period to complete. Responses to the survey are anonymous and serve to inform the state on programs and policies that help youth thrive.

Students are not required to take the survey. To opt your student out, please contact our survey coordinator, Jessica Rapp at Jessica_Rapp@dpsk12.net or 720-424-2516 within the next two weeks. If you wish to give your child permission to participate, no action is needed at this time. Please refer to the Survey FAQs for more information.

As we're having these conversations about physical and mental health, feel free to check out these health resources for youth!

With Gratitude,

Jennifer Warren

🎃 October Festivities at NEC

The week of October 27th-30th, we will have a Halloween and fall-themed spirit week!

  • Monday, Oct. 27: Colors of Fall - wear a color that fits your fall vibe! Orange (pumpkin), black (autumn after dark), purple (fall feels and mystery), green (into the woods), white (crisp autumn air) or grey (cloudy day cozy).

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28: Anything But a Backpack - bring your school supplies in something other than a backpack (nothing alive). Bonus points if you bring something fall-themed!

  • Wednesday, Oct. 29: Fall Cozy Vibes - "I just woke up from my fall hibernation!" Hoodies, slippers, messy buns, seats, school appropriate PJs.

  • Thursday, Oct. 30: Costumes - School appropriate costumes; no masks or weapons.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, we have a talent show at 4:30! We will open doors early at 3:35 for trick-or-treating at our dens. Students and teachers will have decorated the dens and you'll have the chance to vote on your favorite as you trick-or-treat.
