Greetings NEC Families, 

I hope you all had a great week!

I want to take a moment to remind you about the importance of attendance. Grades, standardized test scores, and year-to-year test improvements go up with high attendance, and down with low attendance. That's why, next week, we're going to celebrate strong attendance at NEC. 

On Tuesday, March 17, we'll be passing out Duffeyrolls to students who show up on time! And on Wednesday, March 18, we'll host a luncheon celebration for students who have either improved their attendance rates this semester, or who have 90% attendance or higher. 

Let's start quarter four off strong!

ALL students are invited to attend our Women's Empowerment Panel happening TODAY, March 13 at 11:45 a.m. in the Student Union. Join us for an inspiring panel of women leaders sharing their journeys, challenges and insights on growth and leadership.

Unless your student has opted out, they should complete BESS, a mental health survey. The survey results will help us support our students at NEC. Students: if you haven't already completed the survey at school, please complete it here. Parents: you're invited to fill out your own version of the survey as well; it's due April 10. 

Seniors: keep your attendance up for the month of March so you can attend our Senior Field Trip! Seniors who are passing all their classes and who have 87% (or higher) attendance in March get to go to Boondocks on Friday, March 27 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. 

We'll get four hours of unlimited attractions, including bowling, laser tag, a ropes course with a zipline, go-karts, mini golf and bumper boats! Pizza and soda will be provided for lunch.

Today is the last day of quarter 3, which means that students who were on the "No Pass List" for this quarter will no longer require an escort for quarter 4. If your student was on the "No Pass List", you should have received separate communication about that, and we also spoke to your student directly. 

These students will have 21 passes for the 4th quarter. We calculated this number based on a full schedule of 7 classes - the expectation is that students use no more than 3 passes per class per quarter. If a student uses more than the allotted 21 passes, they will be put back on the "No Pass List."
