Wolfpack Weekly: Community Newsletter 12/5

NEC students visit a table at a college fair

Greetings NEC Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the Fall Break and have had a great week back at NEC. We are nearly to the end of the year!

As I mentioned last newsletter, we have some fun holiday activities coming up next week, including decorating snowflakes, gingerbread men, and ornaments during lunch - plus a hot cocoa bar.

To continue the festivities, on Friday, December 12, we will be welcoming everyone with pan dulce (sweet bread), churros, and other snacks during morning drop-off. Parents/Guardians, students and staff are invited to stop by the Welcome Center and grab a treat as our way of saying thank you for arriving on time to school.

Finally, as we gear up for break, we also wanted to provide you all with some resources for the time off. Look for the "resource highlight" section in this newsletter, as well as the past few newsletters!

Warmly,

Jennifer Warren, Principal

✏️ FREE PSAT and SAT Tutoring During Community!

Denver Public Schools and Northeast Early College are partnering with Tutored by Teachers to provide free, live virtual PSAT/SAT tutoring for students. Sessions are led by experienced educators and held every Thursday during community class.

Why:

  • We aim to provide your student with the same high-quality, individualized support that students at elite schools traditionally receive from private tutors.
  • Fall data shows strong academic gains for students who attend regularly.

How Families Can Help:

  • Make sure your student is taking full advantage of this investment in their success!
  • Please encourage your student to attend and participate each Thursday.

💉 Message From Nurse Maura: In-School Immunizations Jan. 8

Denver Health will be providing a no-cost vaccine clinic to NEC students 18 and under on Thursday, Jan. 8 in the gym from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. This program helps to ensure that our students have a healthy school year!

To participate in the clinic, students must turn in a signed consent form to Nurse Maura. At the clinic, students will receive any vaccines that they are eligible for, including flu, unless any specific vaccines were declined on the consent form.
