Greetings NEC Families,

We have just one more week until Winter Break! We have finals on Wednesday, December 17 and Thursday, December 18, so please make sure you are on time, well-rested and ready to test your best. Once finals are over, that's it! We've made it to the end of the year - there is NO SCHOOL FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19.

I also wanted to share some fun content with you! As you probably know, it's SchoolChoice season here in DPS, and we've been having fun promoting NEC. If you're interested in what we've been highlighting, check out our latest video on our Career Technical Education pathways (linked above).

Let's make our last few days before break great!

Warmly,

Jennifer Warren, Principal

💉 Message From Nurse Maura: In-School Immunizations Jan. 8

Denver Health will be providing a no-cost vaccine clinic to NEC students 18 and under on Thursday, Jan. 8 in the gym from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. This program helps to ensure that our students have a healthy school year!

To participate in the clinic, students must turn in a signed consent form to Nurse Maura. At the clinic, students will receive any vaccines that they are eligible for, including flu, unless any specific vaccines were declined on the consent form.

Please contact Nurse Maura for any questions at 720.424.2462 or via email at maura_buck@dpsk12.org.

✏️ Parent Advisory Committee Meeting Jan. 13

We will be hosting our Parent (family) Advisory Committee Meeting on Tuesday January 13 at 8:45- 10:15 a.m. Please join us in learning about ACCESS Testing and Community Hub Resources! RSVP here (Google Form).

📱 New Cell Phone Policy

Starting next week, students who leave class on a hall pass will be required to leave their cellphones in the classroom. Cell phones will not be allowed in the hallways during instructional time in order to keep our building focused and distraction-free.

If students have an off period, they may use their cellphones only in the Student Union.

This will be a soft launch, and our goal is to have full implementation by the start of 2nd Semester. We will offer gentle reminders as everyone adjusts to this new expectation and to ensure it’s followed consistently across the school.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and focused learning environment!
