Dear Merrill Community,
I hope this message finds you well. Merrill wants to express my gratitude for your continued support with the school year. We have had a wonderful start to the 25-26 school year.
We are excited to announce that our conference sign-up will be coming soon! This year, the conferences will be student-led and in-person on Wednesday, Oct 8th, and virtual Thursday, October 9th. They are a great opportunity for your child to share their progress.
Please note that there will be no school this Monday due to a teacher in-service day.
As we approach the halfway point of the semester this weekend, I encourage you to take some time to discuss your student’s grades and their progress towards their AR/i-Ready/IXL goals. Below are a few questions to help start the conversation:
How do you feel about your current grades in each subject? Are there any areas where you feel confident or need more support?
What assignments or projects are you currently working on, and do you have any questions about them?
Have you set any goals for yourself this semester? How are you tracking your progress towards those goals?
Are there specific subjects or topics that you find particularly challenging? What strategies are you using to improve in those areas?
How do you feel about your participation in class discussions and activities? Is there anything you would like to change or improve?
Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education!
Warmly,
Merrill Leadership

Teaching students about mental health wellness and how to care for themselves is important. Feelings of sadness and depression appear to be happening at a much earlier age, and adolescence can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions. Risk factors such as depression and self-injury can be treated. While not every student will experience these feelings, they may be able to help a friend in need.
Each year, schools teach students how to identify risk factors for depression and how to ask for help from a trusted adult. Classroom lessons also include information on Safe2Tell Colorado. Programming is implemented in 6th grade. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in programming, please reach out to Emily Hill, emily_hill1@dpsk12.net by Sept 23.

Merrill Store
The Merrill Store is designed to promote positive behavior and encourages students to make good choices. They earn Merrill Money throughout their time at school and use it to "purchase" items at the store during their recess. Items include snacks, chips, candy, sports equipment, Merrill gear, fidgets, toys, stickers and most importantly- gift cards! It's so fun seeing your student during the school day! We will have the store open 2 Fridays a month and hope to see you there! SignUpGeniusHere
