Dear Merrill Community,
Thank you for a great week! Our 7th-grade students had so much fun on the field trips, and we can’t wait to learn in the community again.
I want to take a moment to discuss e-bike safety. We want all our students to get to school safely and healthily. Lately, some students have not been following safety rules when riding their e-bikes on or near campus. Please remind your student of these important guidelines:
Students should dismount and walk their bikes before reaching the blacktop and off campus before riding.
E-bikes must follow all traffic laws and use the bike lane on Florida Avenue.
If a student isn’t comfortable riding in the bike lane, they should walk their bike on the sidewalk — riding near other students isn’t allowed.
Bikes and e-bikes should never be ridden on school grounds, including the blacktop, field, or in front of the building.
Bikes and e-bikes should only have one rider per bike.
If safety rules aren’t followed, we may have to restrict e-bike use for those students.
Additionally, a quick reminder about our cell phone policy:
Students are not allowed to talk or text on their cell phones during the school day. Cell phones must remain out of sight during school hours, either kept at home or in their backpacks. This includes wireless earbuds.
If a student needs to contact a parent, or vice versa, this must be done through the main office. A secretary, school nurse, counselor, teacher, or administrator may permit students to use office phones.
Cell phones and wireless earbuds that are not followed will be taken and stored in the main office until the end of the school day, requiring a parent/guardian to pick them up.
Please have conversations with your student about cell phone usage during school hours.
Lastly, we are halfway through the quarter; please check in with your student and their Schoology updates. Below are some helpful questions to get the conversation started:
Here are some effective questions parents can ask when checking on their child's grades:
What grades are you currently receiving in each subject?
Which assignments or tests contributed most to your current grades?
What do you think you did well on in your recent assignments?
Are there any grades that surprised you? Why?
What feedback did your teacher provide on your recent work?
How do you feel about your grades in relation to your goals?
Is there a specific subject where you feel you could improve?
What steps are you taking to prepare for upcoming tests or assignments?
Have you discussed any concerns about your grades with your teacher?
What can I do to support you in achieving your academic goals?
Thank you for your support!
Best regards,
Warmly,
Merrill Leadership

Cool Classroom! 7th Grade Field Trips!
Students in 7th grade had the incredible opportunity to see and hear historical perspectives from a Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a Mosque, as well as listen to a Rabbi. Then they were able to head to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to observe, wonder, and predict about various phenomena. It has been a fun and educational week!
Merrill Store
The Merrill Store is designed to promote positive behavior and encourages students to make good choices. They earn Merrill Money throughout their time at school and use it to "purchase" items at the store during their recess. Items include snacks, chips, candy, sports equipment, Merrill gear, fidgets, toys, stickers and most importantly- gift cards! It's so fun seeing your student during the school day! We will have the store open 2 Fridays a month and hope to see you there! SignUpGeniusHere
