Dear Merrill Community,
Welcome back to another wonderful year at Merrill! We are so excited to have your students with us for the 2025-2026 school year. Our dedicated teachers have been working hard to prepare their classrooms and lessons for an amazing year of learning and growth.
We look forward to seeing you all at our Back-to-School Night on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Following that, from 7:00 to 7:30 PM, we invite you to join a special session led by our school counselors, social worker, and school psychologist focused on supporting your child’s social and emotional growth. If you need translation services for this event and Back-to-School Night, please fill out this Merrill BTSN Interpretation Form.
We want to start the school year off right with clear expectations around cell phones. Students are allowed to bring cell phones, but they must not be kept on their person during the school day. All cell phones and earbuds should be stored in backpacks or lockers throughout the entire day, including lunch and recess.
If a Merrill staff member sees a student with their phone out, the phone will be collected and taken to the main office. Parents will need to pick up the phone at the end of the day. If you need to get in touch with your student during the day, please call the main office. Thank you for your support in helping us keep a focused learning environment!
Friday, all 7th and 8th graders received their CMAS score reports from last school year. Your student will be bringing the report home today. For 6th grade students, please note that their CMAS score reports are with their previous school. You will need to contact that school to request the report.
As the school year begins, many of our staff members will be reaching out to families by phone to welcome you and share all the exciting learning happening with your student. To help us connect smoothly, please ensure your phone number is up to date and that your voicemail is set up and has space to receive messages from Merrill. We've noticed some voicemails are full or not properly set up, which makes it difficult to reach you.
Additionally, Merrill and DPS are moving toward a streamlined communication platform called Rooms, accessible through the DPS app. Please see the information below on how to download and set up this important tool for the school year.
We are thrilled about all the incredible learning, successes, and experiences this school year will bring. Welcome back, Jaguar families!
Warmly,
Merrill Leadership
