Dear Merrill Families,
Thank you for your incredible generosity and support as we approach winter break. You have shown up for our staff, students, and community through the Giving Tree, Direct Give, staff lunches, and so many other ways. Your kindness brings joy and smiles throughout the Merrill community.
As we enter the winter break, please encourage your student to continue engaging in i‑ready or IXL, especially if they are on a growth support plan. This small effort over break helps keep learning momentum going.
Wishing you a wonderful, joy-filled break. We look forward to seeing our students back in the building on Tuesday, January 6th!
Thank you again for all you do.
Sincerely,
Merrill Leadership

Dear Caregivers and Family Members,
As you know, we are in the final stretch of our innovation renewal process as an individual school and as part of the Innovation Zone under the Luminary Learning Network (LLN). We are writing today with an important update and a request for your partnership as we work to ensure the continued success and stability of our school and the LLN.
Every three years we must vote and re-apply to keep our innovation status. Innovation status matters to us because it gives our school the flexibility to design programs and learning environments that meet the unique needs of our students and community. Our educators across the entire LLN recently participated in the consent vote required to continue in the Luminary Learning Network. With over 90% of our educators in support, this demonstrates a belief that the LLN helps us better serve students, respond to the needs of our community, and strengthen the learning environment at Merrill Middle School.
The next step now lies with the Denver Public Schools Board of Education. On January 22, 2026, the Board will vote on the renewal of the Luminary Learning Network. Their vote will directly impact the autonomy, stability, and opportunities our school has worked hard to build. It is critical that they hear from the families and community members who know firsthand the difference this model makes.
We are asking each of you to join us in advocating for a “YES” vote from the DPS Board. Your voice carries tremendous weight. When board members hear from the people most deeply connected to our school, they better understand the value and impact of LLN on our students’ learning and well-being.
Here are a few ways you can help:
-Contact our Board representative and urge them to vote YES on January 22.- Kimberlee Sia at kimberlee_sia@dpsk12.net -Sign our petition and circulate the petition to others in your network.
Thank you for all you do to make Merrill Middle School such a strong and vibrant community.
With appreciation and partnership,
Merrill Middle School

The Merrill Store is designed to promote positive behavior and encourages students to make good choices. They earn Merrill Money throughout their time at school and use it to "purchase" items at the store during their recess. Items include snacks, chips, candy, sports equipment, Merrill gear, fidgets, toys, stickers and most importantly- gift cards! It's so fun seeing your student during the school day! We will have the store open 2 Fridays a month and hope to see you there! SignUpGeniusHere |

There are so many ways to give:
Remember, no amount is too small, and you can absolutely give anonymously (just check the box to remain anonymous when you submit your gift).
You can also elect to give a recurring amount of your choosing each month if that is more comfortable. Scroll down the homepage of the giving site for instructions under “How to Donate”.
And don't forget to check in with your employer to see if they offer a company match to your donation. Most large employers do!
Consider donating stock. Did you know if you donate stock directly to a
charity, there's no capital gains tax to pay? *Please contact your tax advisor for guidance as it pertains to your personal situation - instructions are at the bottom of the giving site homepage.
