7th Graders who met the Quarter 1 contract goals will attend the field trip to Wash Park on Monday, Oct. 20. Students who can attend received a reverse permission slip in their classes on Friday. A copy of the reverse form is below. Please only return if you do not want your child to attend. Thank you!

7th Grade: Wash Park Quarter 1 Celebration

Reverse Permission Form

All seventh graders who met the Quarter 1 contract goals will participate in our field trip to Wash Park on Monday, Oct. 20 from 9:15 am - 12:15 pm. Students will walk from Merrill and return in time for lunch.

Students may bring snacks to share and sports equipment to play but are responsible for their own belongings. Water bottles and sunscreen are strongly recommended as well as layers for our October weather.

If you do not want your child participating in this event, please sign below and they will remain at school using study hall time to complete missing assignments. Please have them come to school with their computer and a book to read.

If your child did not meet the Q1 requirements, you will receive a phone from a Merrill staff member prior to the field trip event.  Again, please only sign and return this slip if you DO NOT want your child to attend. Students that do not attend will remain at school to catch up on missing assignments.

Each year, schools teach students how to identify risk factors for depression and how to ask for help from a trusted adult. Classroom lessons also include information on Safe2Tell Colorado. Programming is implemented in 6th grade. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in programming, please reach out to Emily Hill, emily_hill1@dpsk12.net by Sept 23.

Merrill Store

The Merrill Store is designed to promote positive behavior and encourages students to make good choices. They earn Merrill Money throughout their time at school and use it to "purchase" items at the store during their recess. Items include snacks, chips, candy, sports equipment, Merrill gear, fidgets, toys, stickers and most importantly- gift cards! It's so fun seeing your student during the school day! We will have the store open 2 Fridays a month and hope to see you there! SignUpGeniusHere

Merrill Memories

Merrill Memories - Prologue - Merrill Dedication, November 24, 1953 at 8pm - Scene III
In the last two Jaguar Journals, Scenes I & II from the Prologue at Merrill’s 1953 Dedication Ceremony were shared. The scenes highlighted our school’s namesake, Louise A. Merrill, in her childhood in Kentucky and her move to Colorado.  Click here for Scene III of her legacy.

Cool Classroom!

Students in Ms. Langdok’s class have been assigned with the important task of how to reduce the noise in our stairwells. They took initial data during some of our loudest times of the day. We can’t wait to see what innovative ideas they come up with!

Denver South Wrestling Futures

We are currently recruiting wrestlers from 1st through 8th grade. Preseason is underway, and our official season begins October 20, 2025.

About our program:

  • This is our second year as a club.

  • Last season, we had three wrestlers place at tournaments we participated in (including a 1st place champion!).

  • We had several more youth who were just one match away from placing.

  • Our focus goes beyond competition—we strive to teach students to be leaders on and off the mat.

With your support, we can continue to grow the sport of wrestling and help shape tomorrow’s leaders.
